This might have been posted elsewhere before but I just stumbled across this podcast interview with Mark Guiliana.

 

Around 18:00 minutes in Mark mentions that he and Juan have recorded an album that's just waiting to be mixed. Has anyone else heard of this project?

The interview is from January 2014 but it'd be nice to think that this might come out at some point.

That'd be awesome! With exception of Deantoni, I can't imagine anyone else that I'd want to hear on the new Vato Negro record than Mark.

Any plans for the future? What’s next for Juan Alderete?
I have a few records I have been working on. I played bass on the new Deltron 3030 record, I am in the process of completing a new Big Sir record, I have a new band called Halo Orbit with suGar from Buffalo Daughter and the incredible Mark Guiliana on drums and I continue to contribute to my website www.pedalsandeffects.com! Some shows with Deltron this year as well. Hope to get some more touring for later this year, so fingers crossed.

just met juan on the street in chicago, found out about this after. wish i'd seen something before, i would've asked about a release date.

the little clip sounds akin to Vato Negro which is not  bad thing.  Quite excited

ran into juan again, he said it's looking like a spring 2016 release. wanted to ask about the st vincent/deantoni thing that was supposed to happen too but i forgot and blew it :/
