That sounds incredible. The documentary was great. Can't wait for it to drop.

I've been on a real Madlib binge recently. Yesterday's Universe, Shades Of Blue, Beat Konducta, Madvillainy, I love everything he does. He's definetely my favourite hip hop producer at the moment.

Just read the whole thread, and realised I need more Madlib.

I only own Madvillainy and Yesterday's Universe, I think I'll look out for Shades of Blue and some Beat Konducta stuff, I'm also in the midst of finding Quasimoto albums.

This Brazilian thing sounds pretty decent except I wish it either a) had rapping or b) changed more often and more drastically. The simple repetition over and over gets old for me. This may sound hypocritical coming from as big a fan of Steve Reich as me but I feel like it's apples and oranges.

Yeah, I felt the same way with some of the tracks off Yesterday's Universe. It seems he was trying to create "pop jazz" in the most deriviative way possible, while at times working most of the time you just need a solo or MC to bust out.

i dont know when the hells kitchen that my wife and i attended will air. perhaps next season
jon theodore on an omar recording is probably just old stufff but i did talk with jon at that LA vatonegro show a year ago. omar and i were supposed to do a madlib collaboration about 2 years ago but volta got in the way. maybe we will try again. that inner city teacher is a talented friend of mine named BONA FIDE ROJAS from the south bronx. he is always at nyc shows. omars dad is a true maestro, he played bongos on chanbarra by atdi, and watching guy piccioto(fugazi) play with vic chestnutt in france with members of godspeed in the band was priceless.

Madlib Medicine Show #12

Dunno if any of you have seen this but Madlib's final Medicine Show release is now due for September, all remixes. Looks pretty good, should be a great way to end a great series of releases. Hopefully Quasimoto 3 next.
