I really like Muse right now, Pink Floyd's good for zoning out to, Frusciante is great stoner rock and his new band (Ataxia) is supposed to be really psychadelic, the CD should be out tomorrow.

Again, people need to realise Stoner Rock is an actual definitive genre, not a generic term for music some idiot gets ripped to.

Im so tired of that word... You sound like that redneck on the David Cross album "I dont know Faggot..."

But you are right in that Muse is definately not stoner rock. Im into Queens of the Stone Age and some of Kyuss but I also like High on Fire which hasnt been mentioned here yet. I actually found out about them because they played at ATP in December.

Stoner Rock is not music you enjoy listening to when you are stoned. Stoner Rock is rock played with loud fuzzy riffs, relatively slow and with a lot of bass. And some very psychedlic passages. Usually the production is used to make it feel like the music was recorded at over 100degrees in the desert.

I enjoy:

Kyuss, Altamount, The Obsessed, Sleep, The Sabians, Queens Of The Stone Age, Spirit Caravan, Scott Reeder's solo album, Thrones, Saint Vitus, any other band with Wino in it, Count Raven, Thrones, Church Of Misery, Clutch are kind of Stoner Rockish and bands like Boris, Melvins, Electric Wizard, Masters Of Reality and High On Fire have some relations to the Stoner Rock genre.

truly some awesome music
