everyone has mentioned Kenny Hopper, but Jarret Wrenn was also in ATDI, and is also in Crime in Choir. These names may not be 100% correct since i'm doing this from memory, but I think they are right. just so anyone reading through this quickly can know.

Crime in Choir is really amazing. It's like synth/jam/prog deliciosity.

Crime in Choir, not crimes. Jarret Wren is formerly of ATD-I, he plays baritone guitar and bass for te band. There are a few Mp3's on that site. I'm a big fan of this band. I started a thread ahile ago on them in drunkship, actually.

San Francisco's CRIME IN CHOIR will be issuing their next album, Trumpery Metier, on GSL this fall. The album is currently being completed in San Francisco and features the skills of new drummer Tim Soete (of THE FUCKING CHAMPS, etc.). I checked out the song on their website, and I really like it. Plus that live vid is great, really good quality.
I'm gonna check these guys out some more.
