I love Primus. I don't think Larry gets enough props for his guitar playing though. Anyone who can come up with anything (let alone anything good) at all to play on guitar while Claypool is doing all that crazy shit is pretty much a genius IMO.

Also, I remember reading on here ages ago about some dude who didn't like Primus because they had been the soundtrack to a really bad trip that he had. That story has stuck in my mind, and whenever I watch my Primus DVD it occurs to me that if I were having a bad trip and was forced to listen to these guys as a soundtrack.. that I would probably lose my mind. As much as I love this band, that sounds like hell on earth :P

Animals Should Not Try To Act Like People is easily one the best music DVDs I own. Some of the live stuff on that disc is incredible.

I've heard two songs by Primus. (South Park theme, some single on the radio...Big Brown Beaver or whatever)...and both of those songs are two of the most retarded fucking pieces of music ever created.

Agreed. Primus has a rather large catalog of really great music.

How anyone could not at least respect their mad skills as musicians is beyond me.

Plus a good bent sense of humor goes a long way in fully appreciating them.

Southbound Pachyderm is a wonderful song. Shake Hands With Beef is also pretty rad. My favourite performance on that DVD i mentioned before though is the bootleg college radio performance of To Defy The Laws Of Tradition. All three guys are ridiculously talented.

yes! i really like that dvd. the cd it's bad either. nothing beats old school primus, but the new stuff grooves too. my first listen to primus i hated his voice, but that has gone away. i've always loved claypool, he's one of my favorite bassists.

I'm a huge fan of Primus. I grew up on them really, they were my brothers favorite band as far back as I can remember, so I've been listening to them since I was a wee lad. In fact, if I hear anything from them I am instantly transported back to my childhood (nost notably Donkey Kong Country 2 always comes up in my mind with Primus.) I have all the DVD's, and they are damn impressive. I wish I could have gone to see them this year, but my brothers didn't get me a ticket.

edit: And I agree, Southbound Pachyderm is such a good song.
