Xenophanes of Colophon (Ancient Greek: Ξενοφάνης ὁ Κολοφώνιος IPA: [ksenophánɛːs ho kolophɔˊːnios]; 570 – 480 BCE) was a Greek philosopher, poet, and social and religious critic. Our knowledge of his views comes from fragments of his poetry, surviving as quotations by later Greek writers. To judge from these, his poetry criticized and satirized a wide range of ideas, including the belief in the pantheon of anthropomorphic gods and the Greeks' veneration of athleticism. He is the earliest Greek poet who claims explicitly to be writing for future generations, creating "fame that will reach all of Greece, and never die while the Greek kind of songs survives."[1]

The Ethiops say that their gods are flat-nosed and black,
While the Thracians say that theirs have blue eyes and red[2] hair.
Yet if cattle or horses or lions had hands and could draw,
And could sculpt like men, then the horses would draw their gods
Like horses, and cattle like cattle; and each they would shape
Bodies of gods in the likeness, each kind, of their own.[3]

If some of you can read spanish, the spanish article for Xenophane (Jenofanes) is really extense and interesting

For example no poem by him has been found complete... just fragments

Jenofanes en Wikipedia

Btw could this be the whopper release? or something completely different?

I was hoping he would release something sooner

This will almost surely be something completely different to what he has released in the last 3 years... unless it's an album from 2001...

Ah, that feeling again...

:D

what again?
are we not still waiting for octohedron?

I guess I was referring to the feeling of finding out about a new record, originally ;)

why not a salsa record with her on it????

That's what I was thinking.

But now I'm kind of thinking about El Grupo Nuevo II..

Louis, don't you think that should be called Cryptomnesia II instead of Xenophanes?
I don't think we get that 2nd record by El Grupo Nuevo this year.

Hmm...I really don't know, but I wouldn't imagine them naming them II, III.

But maybe they will..

And I was thinking that the El Grupo Nuevo records would be released more frequently than TMV records, considering they told us that there were three of them *shrugs*

mmm they named the first one I, didn't they? well, maybe you're right.
and perhaps they do release it before the end of this year, but i think they won't do it for commercial reasons they seem to be taking into account. you know what i mean?

I think that the I and II of which you speak were in reference to the two promo videos they made..

:)

-phane definition

-phane (fān)
a substance that has a (specified) appearance or resembles (something specified) allophane, cymophane

Etymology: < Gr phainein, to appear: see fantasy

And we all know what a xenophobe is (afraid of aliens [culturally])

So it means, "of alien culture."

Awesome.

Could be either of the things you guys are talking about, Crypto 2 (not a likely title if you ask me) or Ximenia-collab (she won't be on the whole album I guess)
