I can't wait for Pitchfork's reaction...
Yeah, I keep checking their site. My prediction is that Pitchfork will give it somewhere around a 4 or 5. They've never given The Mars Volta a favorable review. I don't expect them to now.

It's been three years since the noisiest little prog-rock band in Texas put out a record, but they haven't been slacking. Their newest is a "future punk" experiment based on a comic-book villain (Solomon Grundy) and a Greek myth (Hyacinthus). Ner-dee! The results send the band's usual tornado time signatures through some serious synth-and-gear grind; "Aegis" suggests Radiohead as emo metal. Some songs explore emulsive alienation (see "In Absentia"), but TMV are at their best dabbling in shades of aggro: On "The Whip Hand," shrieker Cedric Bixler-Zavala imagines himself "a land mine" ready to "blossom." You don't wanna mess with an art rocker who has a latent fondness for the smell of napalm in the morning.

Wow indeed. It's like the reviewer isn't even trying to write something cohesive. Radiohead as emo metal? Bullshit! Don't they even know any band apart from Radiohead?! Its not like Radiohead is the be-all end-all of music. Just because Noctourniquet has a lot of synths, i've seen a fair amount of idiots comparing it to Kid A. I love Kid A but comparing every album with blips and bloops to it is just fucking retarded. FUCK ROLLING STONE"Aegis" suggests Radiohead as emo metal.

Is Pitchfork even going to review it?
That would be hilarious if they didn't.
