Show me the carbon copies, please, because I'd love to hear more of it. (one pentatonic riff at the end of Cygnus that sounds like Crimson isn't enough to make your case).
i think there are multiple threads on where tmv stole stuff from other songs. sure frances is great and innovative but the influences are really obvious: 70s king crimson, 70s genesis, 70s yes and a few sprinkles of gentle giant mixed with the a little more agression and salsa.
of course that doesn't mean tmv sound just like those bands but check out these and you'll know what i mean:
yes - close to the edge
gentle giant - the power and the glory
genesis - nursery cryme
king crimson - larks' tongues in aspic
those may all be obvious to you, but i think tmv took a lot of inspiration in the way the songs are structured or even the structure of the whole record from bands like this so if you want more of this, just go ahead, there's tons of stuff to dig into. (still nobody sounds quite like cedric and i've never heard of another band that mingles salsa into progsongs)
