So as a alternative, I think mod's should give them out to people they deem worthy. And could give negative titles to people they deem stupid.

I like this idea the best.

Meh, all that does is foster favoritism, which is apparently the very factor that initiated all this turmoil (though I myself haven't really seen the big deal). Despite what I previously said, having a fixed number of posts in order to receive a personal title seems the best way to go, even if it is fairly high. Judging by the way most new members seem to aquire 1,000+ posts in their first month or so, however the hell they manage to do so, it shouldn't really be a problem for most people.

I agree with this.

However, how the HELL do people get posts that fast? I've been year for over a year and I just got Moatilliata.

Not really. The mods are all pretty cool and I would trust them. I've been here almost 2 years and haven't even reached 1,000. At this rate I'd have to be here another 8 years to get my personalized title.

I don't see much mod favoritism, especially not since theory told them to lighten up on drunkship.

Because I think will still whore the hell out of the boards for 5000 posts.

The only problem with this is that there are many people on the coma, and the mods don't exactly know everyone. I trust the mods enough for this privelage, and it does seem like a good idea for the most part.

Not everyone needs a custom title...
It would really only be saved for the really good or really bad posters. I think it would encourage people to try and make better posts and would discourage garbage if all you got out of it was "I suck" under your name.
With a post number people are just going to spam to get 5000.
The only problem is people will probably spam the mods asking for a custom rank.

To those that didn't know, talking to yourself is the best method to increase your post count.

Darn, make it 2000 instead of 5000....
5000 might encourage ALOT of spam, while 2000 is alittle more calm.

And closer to my post count.

:D

It's easier to make 2000 bullshit posts than 5000 bullshit posts.

Therefore, I believe a lower post count requirement would encourage more spam.

I disagree, if the the count is higher, then they NEED to spam MORE to reach the goal.

only problem would be discrepancies among the moderators on who gets ranks

unless ranks could only be awarded and not taken away (save for admins)
