As far as these heavy type bands go I find the Deftones to be very melodic.
My favourites are:

Bored
My Own Summer (Shove It)
Change (In the House of Flies)

perfect list.
from what i've heard by them those are my exact favorites

the best one is Around The Fur - BY FAR! I love the song "Rickets"...

Yea the self titled one was not bad, but I think I'm mostly into different stuff now, like Joeri said - there once was a time when I thought that was the best shite ever, but then I found Cedric and Omar... :D

Korn - Korn
Korn - Life Is Peachy
Korn - Follow The Leader
Deftones - Adrenaline
Deftones - Around The Fur
Deftones - White Pony

Nu-metal should´ve died after those albums. Right now almost all nu/metal bands are a complete joke. Seriously, I rather listen to Britney, Ashanti or Europe than listen to Linkin Park.

I agree with you

i hate labels...and guess what? i hate the numetal label...like the emo label...some of the "numetal" i like...like soad, especially their self titled...and emo, i don't even know what that means anymore...like punk, no clue what it means...i need to take a vow to never ever use labels ever again...but who do i respond when someone asks "what music do you like?" ...maybe i should just make a little mixed cd of all of my favorite bands and hand it out to whoever asked me the question "what kinda music you like?"...it's an idea, but i'm lazy...

IT IS A GOOD IDEA!

hmmm....I like it. Some of the songs--deathblow, lucky you--bore me and I just skip pass them. But I think that it still has some really good music on it. One other problem I had (that I can think of at the moment) upon first listening to it was the chorus of hexagram  I just didn't understand it and I still don't although I can endure it now. But overall I enjoy listening to it.

I agree. I enjoy the album except that song. It's a good album though.

I think the CD was very consistent, but in many ways was their weakest in that it really didn't have any highlights for me. Well, I like it better than Adrenaline...I still haven't been able to get past the production on that one. But what I mean is, that I enjoy every track, but there's nothing which really grabs me, overall, it feels very competent.
I really think it's their first CD where they haven't taken a noticable turn in sound, sort of combining around the fur w/ white pony. The guitar tone sounds a bit muddy to me too, not sure why that is. It's sad the CD fell of the charts almost instantly, Deftones have yet to go platinum and are infinitely more deserving than most mainstream bands to do so. I though Minerva would do it, b/c of all the radio and exposure it was getting, but I guess it was the record companies pushing it and not radio requests.
