It's the hottest day of the year. This album is a fucking masterpiece.

Yeah, definitely my favorite album of the Ipecac series and one of my favorite albums he's ever done.  Un Acto de Fe feels like enlightment in sonic form.

i wouldn't put it quite the way Mataxia did, but my sentiment's not too far off. Un Acto de Fe did a number on me. it was so powerful that i stopped listening to it - i listened to it a lot, but maybe i didn't listen to it enough. what words could i slap on that song? saddeningly accepting?

Un Acto De Fe is the one. I typed a bunch of stuff and rewrote it but honestly anything I say about it would just detract from how good it is, and how it gets to be that good.

Love Omar singing in Spanish. A completely different experience from his cringe English vocals. El Bien is one of the top albums in his discography.

Man I need to spin this again, it's been ages.

Glad to see the consensus about Un Acto De Fe, that's definitely a top 5 Omar solo song for me

Summer of 2017 a buddy of mine & I got a regular gig DJing porch parties twice a month for a relatively wealth Hispanic family in Michigan. This whole album and a few Closure in Moscow songs were REGULAR spins for us, and people ended up enjoying it more than we expected.

I also prefer escorpion. The flow, the sound, the atmosphere. Just perfect. That was the pinnacle of his old style. One of the few albums where i really dig deantoni

Yes, so much depth to it. And so appropriate that it ends that era just before Telesterion wraps it up!

I thought I'd always prefer Escorpion Perfumado too, but then lastly - maybe since I might eventually have heard El bien y mal... as much as I've heard Escopion - I'm not so sure anymore. Escorpion has this very hot, almost clastrophobic atmosphere while El bien is more diverse in sound and may have more depth. Also I'm not that often in the mood for the final jam in Escorpion.

That guitar jam at the end of Escorpion is worth the entire album.

^ agree, not the biggest fan of Un Escorpion but that part is SO GOOD

I would have liked to hear the CH tapes crew take on Un Acto De Fe and Perdido, reckon they would have translated well

One of the highlights of his entire solo career imo. I mean it.

Yeah I'm completely with you. Didn't he interpolate bits of that guitar work into Goliath the song too?

I'm sure I could find you exact timecodes if I could be bothered to. Go listen to them back to back, there's a bit towards the climax of the Escorpion jam that mirrors exactly some of the guitar on the 'never heard a man speak' bit, I think.

It’s a cool jam but i’m rarely in the mood to hear that much explosive noise for 5 minutes straight. El Bien is more soothing on the ears. The OG’s from Escorpion are superior to the remakes, but El Bien’s new material is just as strong. Escorpion is looser, more jammy and production wise it packs a bigger punch. El Bien feels more worked out and less about showing off. Feels like the songs are the priority, but when you’re in the mood to vibe out, you just can’t go wrong with Escorpion. So I guess both albums are the shit in their own right.
