Today I got to listen to Marilyn Mansons newest The Pale Emperor which came out in January. It's surprisingly really good. There's no shock value and its well produced. Tyler Bates produced it. Departure from the industrial and metal influences but still has a really awesome sound to it.

Besides a few songs, I've decided it's really just okay.

God speeds newest is incredible sounding though.

Agreed. Almost more direct and straight to the point than their early stuff, and darker.

Agree definitely all beepy boopy and kinda boring. He's stuck in the same mood which I've grown tired of.

Jack Whites newest Lazaretto is freaking awesome. Just started listening last night. The title track and That Black Bat Licorice are the two best songs on there in terms of eclectic funky awesome craziness! My other favorites that are set a little lower than those two are I Think I Found The Culprit, High Ball Stepper, and Would You Fight For My Love.

Been on a huge Eyedea & Abilities kick the last few weeks and just picked up a gorgeous reissued LP for Record Store Day. I discovered them years ago, but only now have I been sinking my teeth into the music and really thinking on the lyrics. Treat yourselves and dig into the E&A and By the Throat albums on Spotify if you're unacquainted. Michael "Eyedea" Larsen cut his teeth in the battle rap scene of the late nineties when he was young and grew up into a hell of a songwriter and the definition of a true creative spirit before he passed. Lots of fans of the old school hip hop production and the ego of their earlier material gave them shit for that last album because his side projects and tangents into alternative rock and stuff were bleeding back into their day job act, but he knew what he was doing.

Down On The Upside is also a stone cold classic. I prefer Superunknown, by a whisker. There's a little more filler on DOTU, and some songs fall flat. I also think that Superunknown is basically the definition of the Late Grunge sound. There's less experimentation, but the whole record as a package is much tighter, and represents the pinnacle of their commercial success.
