I'm preparing myself to be underwhelmed by jimmy three bands' contribution, I don't know – I get the feeling. The review comment about him bringing his APC game, and how sparsely he appears on this record – but I'm ok with that, the band really is three guys + wine guy these days, the way they write and rehearse. His voice has been on the wane since Aenima. Anyway, yes, certainly hyped for the album, trying really hard not to spend £90 on the CD though.

So the drum solo that Danny has been performing live is chocolate chip trip.....guess that’s what CCTrip means on the written setlist.

Also sounds like with 7 actual songs and 3 interludes, that we’ve heard 4 of 7 songs already (fear, descending, invincible, cctrip) and none of the interludes. Only about two weeks out sports fans!

I'm still amused that Chocolate Chip Trip, ostensibly Merkaba 2, a live 'sample and drum solo' thing that Carey has played in the intermission, is one of the 'songs' they spent thirteen years working on, that absolutely had to make the album. What a band.

The album with transitions is 85 minutes. Thats why they couldn't release on CD. They could do 2 CDs but it would be stupid probably (despite Metallica doing even dumber thing: a less than 79 minute album on 2 cds)

From Loudwire, I thought these two quotes were interesting.

Bassist Justin Chancellor, who eventually helped set a deadline for the album, discussed some of the frustration in house with the group, trying to get things the best they could be. “Sometimes I thought we were nearly there. We’d written an album or we had some songs that were cool, and then we’d dump the whole lot and start again. It was devastating," he revealed.

Admittedly, Tool's artistry for the new album took some pretty interesting turns. Carey recently revealed to Kerrang, "When we get in that room, where it takes us, that's where it goes. Four years ago when we were looking at this, I wanted to try to do a record that was one giant song."

I’m glad they decided not to do one giant song.

Whoa, whose idea was it to scrap the album's worth of music?

Maybe with a few dozen more transition tracks?
