I really don't know how well a band like Kayo Dot is going to go over here in Blood Brothers country, but here goes.

Choirs of the Eye is like the love child of Isis, Jeff Buckley, and Sigur Ros. Or like spacey chamber rock with doom metal built around it in spots.

Some clips

----
MODERATOR EDIT!!!
----

Kayo Dot tend to produce a fewer number of quite lengthy songs on their albums, rather than many smaller songs. Thus, if you're interested in listening to them, the answer to which songs or albums to choose is a simple one. All of them.

Choirs of the Eye
1. "Marathon"
2. "A Pitcher of Summer"
3. "The Manifold Curiosity"
4. "Wayfarer"
5. "The Antique"

Dowsing Anemone With Copper Tongue
1. "Gemini Becoming The Tripod"
2. "Immortelle and Paper Caravelle"
3. "Aura On An Asylum Wall"
4. "____ On Limpid Form"
5. "Amaranth the Peddler"

Limited 12" with Bloody Panda
1. "Don't Touch Dead Animals"

My recommendation is that you listen to the songs in the order listed, and with headphones, and without distractions. (But you don't have to listen to them all in one shot on your first time, of course!).

Other Toby Driver projects include:
maudlin of the Well
Tartar Lamb
Solo

Although I do admit that there's a huge number of The Blod Brothers around here, I still think you shouldn't see this place as The Blood Brothers country, because there are just as many people who listen to Jeff Buckley, Sigur Ros, Isis and other similar artists.

I, for example, I love all 4 of them. :ol_biggrin:

Which is why I can't wait to listen to Kayo Dot.

That is some endorsement. Someone who has been here since february 2004 without posting, finally posts, maybe for the only time, about the greatness of this album. Wow.

It is seriously awesome though, in the original sense of the word.

heh, i mainly come here for the bootlegs... but yeah, this album is just too good. i also recommend their old project "maudlin of the well"... it's some sort of avant prog-metal, not as good as kayo dot but still very good.

Fanks. The clips sound alright, but the computers at my technology center have crappy speakers. I'll have to check them out further.

Like a kiss, soft, and wild with the delicate steps of petals fallen in a stream
This swirling ballerina turns in faint and sighing grandeur
Across the floor to me.
A monarch plays the violin to a summer's afternoon
Whilst quietly the earthworm adores the soil in winter's sparkling gloom
It breaks away, growing as the flowers do.

A thunderhead embraces his enraptured lover
And kisses with a gale that also makes the cattails shudder.
His tears cannot, as he proclaims his love, be held with lightning back;
They fondly dance into an open window
And fondly dance with mine.

Our eyelashes weaken with a weight that is sweet and fine,
And this feels like frogs and spiders in the sweet outside.
Tell me why world, unfathomable and good,
The beauty of everything is infinite and cruel.

An airplane, a puppet, an orange, a spoon,
A window, and outside
Stars and the moon.

wow.
