smiles was just to feed his heroin frenzy
...but to me his best work is shadows, especially the second half of the cd
idk his music just calms me down and make me happy

water.....idk the second half of the cd is much better
but all of his stuff is very close in comparison with me. I cant really pick a favorite album, more just make a playlist of all his great songs

he has some dud songs that are just unoriginal and pretty boring
but SO MANY HITS
damn i cant even list them all
ive never really listened to smile...i also used to NEVER listen to niandra..i was like "wtf WHO CAN LISTEN TO THIS??" because of the bad production and crappy sounding vocals...then i played it from the beginning and was BLOWN AWAY
esp pussys glue...where theres 2 takes of it. oh man.
but now that ive heard how something that sounds so raw and bad is actually really good, imthinkin i should check out smiles. i like the whole concept behind it...just putting it our for drug money...
also, would you guys think youde wanna hear niandra lades redone with the production sound of his 6 in 6 and his new and heroin free improved voice? i think that would be fuckin awesome.
like someone said, you can make some SOLID mixtapes with his stuff.
i do appreciate him as a guitar player so much more than as a song writer. he has some of the craziest musically(theory aspect) charged songs with just ridiculous layering and all this crazy stuff..
that one song on inside of emptiness where he bends that last solo all out of tune but it still sounds solid...the anne solo with omar.
dude is a fucking machine. and what a voice
i could go on forever but i shant

i kinda wish he would make an album where he completely shows off his guitar skills and whatnot. he seems to save that stuf for live shows with chili peppers. thats when your like, woah man this dude can fucking play. i know all of his solo albums have great guitar on them(ataxia, anne, ya know what im sayin?) but he seems to focus on songwriting.. idk he seems so modest about his skills. which makes me respect him even more. hes like one of those guys thats just there to contribute to the music as a whole, and not just let one aspect of it shine.idk when he plays that guitar sometimes it sends chills down my spine.
maybe guitar solos are outdated. no longer innovative at all.
at one point in time he stated that he hated solos (which his view has changed now apparently) and he just wanted to make music without a particular focus on one instrument, just making music as a whole as you said.
he has changed my perspective on music itself since i started listening to his solo stuff, and i pray that he never stops putting out the solid, emotional, mind blowing (actually i cannot find the right words for his music) for a long, long time
