From the opening beat it is immediately more interesting than the production in TMB. Very symphonic electronic and theatrical. I’m going to love this album I think and I’m only on the second song.

drossi's hot takes:

01. Could do without the handclaps, ta.
02. Boards of Canada featuring Drake.
03. Do you like the Amnesiac b-sides? Hi. Oh, but the second half though, golly gosh.
04. Bloody hell, this destroyed me. *wipes tears*
05. Lyrically hilarious.
06. Thom’s woken up finally.
07. He has regrets.
08. I didn’t notice this song at all, sorry.
09. I suppose if you're going to be anxious you might as well dance about it.

Overall: Perhaps I should in future listen to albums before I blow my wages on deluxe box sets?

It's my least fav, though i only listened to it once thus far, so that might change.

It's like more of the same meets some new elements that come too close to an old fashioned trancy approach to electronic music for my taste

Pretty fantastic album imo. Dawn chorus though doesn’t emotionally trigger me. It’s pretty standard Thom. Kinda Videotape-y is the vibe I get.

They could have called it deja-vu

So many sounds, bass lines and chord progressions that reminded me of other Yorke work.
You also notice that those aren't written songs but constructions where Thom layered some (also familiar) sounding vocals on top.

BUT

I still like this as I like most stuff yorke released post The Bends...

Who your real friends are?!?

I reviewed the album here:

https://airdriftsign...orke-anima.html

I called it a symphonic, electronic, dance, trance album that we never knew we needed.

As someone who has never gotten into Thom Yorke's music, I'm enjoying what I'm hearing so far. Also, when Twist came on, I finally realized who Thom reminds me of: Little Dragon – she takes a lot of vocal and melodic cues from him.
