Yeah, but he hasn't exactly kept himself in a healthy, strong condition over the years either.

On May 19 2015, Yes announced that Squire had been diagnosed with acute erythroid leukemia, and would take a break from performing while receiving treatment. On June 28 2015, Squire died from the illness, aged 67, less than six weeks after his diagnosis, while receiving treatment in his adopted hometown of Phoenix, Arizona.

The Mashantucket, Connecticut show on August 7 2015 will be the first time in Yes history that the band will perform without Squire. Former member Billy Sherwood will replace Squire during the North American Summer 2015 joint tour with Toto from August to September 2015, as well as their performances in November 2015.

Fuck. We knew he didn't have that long, but nothing like this. One of the greatest and most creative bassists ever, the foundation of one of my favorite bands and of some of the best albums ever made. RIP.

surprised they're not hanging it up........squire was kind of the heart and soul of this band.  i mean, a song like roundabout would be just weird within anyone else playing it, but i suppose the show goes on.........

sucks, i never cared for the band, too much cheesy prog music out of the guys, but i can appreciate the guy's skills and abilities as a bass player.  RIP.

They're still playing?  That's upsetting.

Chris Squire's Fish out of Water is amazing.

They had already announced another bass player for this tour. I'm going to go see them, I assume this will be the last time.

The last time you go see them or the last time they tour? This is the first time they play without Squire in roughly 50 years, I assume they won't release another studio album either

Also, has anyone checked this out?

Both I'm guessing. I bought tickets knowing Squire wasn't going to be with them. It is a State Fair concert with Toto so hopefully the atmosphere more then makes up for it.

in Siberian Khatru, beginning at around 4:05, what's the subtle melodic thing that's going in the right channel during the reprise of the intro? is that a lap steel guitar? https://youtu.be/oksI8fXKtyE?t=245

Either that or an electric guitar played with a slide. It‘s then doubling the last few high notes of the main melody. The timbre is too „bluesy“ or „dirty“ for a pedal steel imo. Good observation.

i've been listening to Siberian Khatru a lot lately. it's been among my favorite Yes songs for years, and i never heard that part until yesterday. it's rather beautiful - that small melody almost sounds like a voice, to me, at least until it enters the registers that i doubt even Jon would be able to reach with that tonality, let alone with the apparent agility and precision to nail those intervals.
