There needs to be a Silver Mt. Zion appreciation thread, they deserve more than GYBE.

the both have their moments. it really depends on your mood. as depressing as GYBE can get, theyve got nothing on ASMZ's early albums.

ive made a mission of listening to every artist on constellation and of those ive listened to i love:

GYBE
ASMZ
do make say think
fly pan am

so yeah ive gotta listen to more of their bands.

for gybe i think my favorite album is skinny fists, followed by slow riot followed by yanqui and f#a# tied for third. i just dont dig f#a# as much as i should. i must say i think ASMZ are getting better as their name evolves. there most recent 2 albums are my favorites from them.

Godspeed is amazing, I love F#A# oo.
I like A Silver Mt. Zion... just a bit less, and I like Do Make Say Think a lot as well. Great music to really listen to.

Godspeed You Black Emperor! is an amazing band. f#a#(infinity) is impeccable. Simply amazing. Still haven't heard The Silver Mount Zion Memorial Orchestra on record, but i have seen 'em live, and they're great as well. Now, why don't I own any SMZ records? Shit! I fuckin SHOULD!

YEAH! GY!BE is my favorite band at the time. f#A#infinity is superb, just as about everything they did. I've also seen ASMZ live this year, and I'm seeing Le Fly Pan Am in 2 weeks. Quite excited. If you haven't heard them, get their latest album, 'N'ecoutez pas'. It's like postrock with shoegaze(on this album that is).

Absence vs. thin air, I really like 'Born into trouble as the sparks fly upward', it's quite dramatic and has the amazing 'Take these hands and throw them in the river' and the last song on there (i don't know the title, but I think it's the last) is very emotional and depressing. Remember, it all started as a project for Efrim's dog which died.

"this is our punk rock...'' Is quite a change after Born into trouble. The song are much longer, and rockier. Also there are vocals on each song. I think this album is fantastic too. anyway, these two are my favorite, though haven't listened to 'lightning paw' much.
