The second batch brought us Roman Lips, Zen Thrills, Ensayo, Gorilla Preacher Cartel and Killing Tingled Lifting Retreats. I'd say it was a success.

Even with Mantra Hiroshima as part of it, nothing will beat the 2010 set of releases.

I find Zach Hill’s drumming style to be incredibly distracting.

That album aside, the 2010 series is what made me become an ORL fan. I had been listening to The Mars Volta before that, but I started paying attention when the ORL+JF LP came out and was hooked ever since.

Apparently not a Beefhart fan either.

since the flow of releases seems to be more or less over, isn't it time to start again one of those useless ranking thread that I love so much ?

no but this one is boring, each one posting his own ranking but no one cares what the other says. I like it more when there's competition, points, polls, blood, etc. like we did for tmv songs ranking for example. I do not feel competent enough however to create it by myself and I also fear the lack of enthousiasm, so I'd rather see someone else try.

Yeah, all of those are great records. The 2nd half of the release was definitely not a disappointment.

One was almost getting used to the constant flow of releases, but it will be even better if new albums are announced / and or released as a surprise, I guess.
