I like this record a lot! Feet Don't Fail Me is like a race car engine firing up and taking off. I loves me a good, solid opener.

Hideaway could totally be a Broken Bells song.

feet don't fail me, the way you used to do, evil has landed, head like a haunted house, and villains of circumstance are all in my eyes classic queens tunes.   That's 5/9 songs that i can confidently say will stick around as stuff i listen to for a long time - good hooks, love the production, and just damn good songs.  the others are slowly growing on this punter......

Also the reading festival.....videos of way you used to and feel good hit are on YouTube.

Interesting to notice that for the hand claps in way you used to, you can see from the video that Jon is triggering them live with a drum sample pad that he's hitting with a beater with his left foot - cool way to do it where you can get the effect but not play to a click. That explains how they recorded it live together in the studio complete with the claps (josh mentioned in an interview that they recorded all of it live with Jon triggering the claps while playing drums). Nice to see it's actually true!

This is a Homme/Lanegan song. May as well be a Queens song

Maida Vale is really great. Good sound mix. The guys are all in perfect form. Josh has some really genuine moments speaking to the audience.

Finally gave this album a listen.  Feels much poppier, but enjoyable.  The mix is so weird though.  Very thing sounding.  It's like Omar recorded the drums.

As time has passed....just love it more and more. Feet don’t fail me, way you used to to, villains of circumstance, evil has landed are all amazing, classic queens songs while head like a haunted house, domesticated animals, and fortress are tunes I quite like too. The other two are kind of mehhhh for me, but a 9 song album with about half the songs being ones I love and most of the rest being good tunes, I’ll take that in 2017.

I dig this record. SnkZato's right though, sounds like same drum levels as Amputechture. The Maida Vale session smokes. Really hope to see them in Dallas for this tour.

Homme is arguably at his peak right now, as far as songwriting and technical ability. From Like Clockwork, to Postpop Depression, to Villains is just an amazing run.

Villains is really dull. The worst QOTSA record so far.

Agreed.

I love like clockwork, but the iggy pop one is ok and villains is super boring

Like Clockwork was incredible. A career highlight for Josh Homme. I thought Post Pop Depression was a solid midfield hit, but Villians is just. Eh.
