im sure he killed it, just watch the gospel chops shed sessionz volume 2 dvd to see what he can do.

im willing to bet the reason they brought back all of those old songs was to save rehearsal time, because dave probably knew them all already.

glad that they arent playing much tbig material, that was thomas' album

That was my first thought also, and I couldn't agree more. I'm actually quite excited to see them in Copenhagen the day after tomorrow. Don't get me wrong, I loved Thomas, but I really want to see these old and more slow songs. Eriatarka? FUCK YES. Miranda? FUCK YES. That setlist from Oslo is the bomb.

Regarding that gospel chops shed sessionz volume 2 dvd - what the hell is that?

hahahaha, being white makes him a minority and what's wrong with that? Plus if he can get down to Eriatarka and Cicatriz then fuck it, he must be fucking killer.

yeah his myspace music interests made me lol a little. but all that matters is the man can play. I get the impression he was a mars volta fan beforehand. he prob knew a bunch of the de-loused stuff by heart, hence the reason cicatriz and eriatarka appeared in norway

there were plenty of great artists mentioned on his page....Frank Zappa, D'Angelo, Meshuggah......

D'Angelo... ?

Sorry, I'm not sure if you're serious or not, my sarcasm detector is out of order at the moment...

I think he was quite serious about the D'Angelo. He is a very good singer, songwriter, and made one of the most important soul albums of the last 20 years! And the Voodoo Tour was killer. Too bad there isn't too much footage of it...

fuck, can someone at least post the setlist...?

Fistful of dollah bills -> Son et lumiere-> Inertiatic
Cotopaxi (big problems with Juan's bass amp, most of the song without Juan)
L'Via L'viaquez (yep)
Eriatarka (double yep)
Goliath
Since We've Been Wrong (triple yep)
Cicatriz (fucking quadruple yep)
Halo Of Nembutals
MIRANDA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (SO FUCKING BEAUTIFUL!)
Teflon
Viscera Eyes
The Widow
Roulette Dares
Total time: Just over 2 hours.

That's about it. New drummer is Elitch (checked out some photos on his myspace, and they corresponded with what I saw tonight)

oh fuck that sounds fucking epic. Damn their US setlist kinda sucked compared to this one.

This setlist is probably their best yet. Shame about having no Cygnus though. But having Cicatriz and Eriatarka deffo compromises it. FUCK I'm looking forward to their London gig!
