not sure if anyone on here cares about them......long-running gloomy indie rock band - new album is out in a few months.  i've been digging them for a while and then the other day they played a show they broadcasted where they did a bunch of new songs and they sound just grand:

anyone else fancy them?

The National are excellent. Really consistent albums, and great live act.

Originally discovered them on one of Pearl Jam's forums but forgot about them....I remember liking them but don't remember the song

Will give this a listen.

Have they ever performed with Pearl Jam or Eddie Vedder?

'The National' isn't exactly the easiest band name to Google

you would think, but no not to my knowledge.

the new stuff has a lot more guitar work and a lot more piano work.....seems like most of the songs are piano-based.

system only dreams in total darkness is a sweet song to begin with - like how live they rock it up and add some screams in.

kinda what always drew me to them - they've got this whole moody indie rock thing, but the songs tend to swell up into big climaxes and then other stuff they go as far as having screaming.  lots of range.

I quite like them. I'm going to shamelessly plug my compilation:

Will definitely check out the new album when it drops.

Yeah you have to type the word "band" after The National. Who has time for that?
