"Anti- has announced the signing of One Day as a Lion, the new project from Zack de la Rocha of Rage Against the Machine and drummer Jon Theodore, formerly of Mars Volta.

The name taken from the infamous 1970 black and white, captured by legendary Chicano photographer George Rodriguez featuring a center framed tag on a white wall in an unspecified section of Boyle Heights. It reads: Its better to live one day as a lion, than a thousand years as a lamb. This record is a stripped down attempt to realize this sentiment in sound

The EP was recorded by Robert Carranza at Ocean Way Recording. It is due out July 22, 2008. To date, no music is available but it is expected to appear shortly."

Even though this isn't a side project, I'm going to keep this in here. So nobody bitch about it.

This is going to rule, I bet.

You don't need a bass player all the time. I mean, look at Zs, or even the frikkin' Doors.

hahahaha, oh shit. now I look ridiculously stupid

but this means the news is old. I remember someone posted that already soon after jon's depart. the guy claimed he has seen de la rocha and jon in recording studio but most people did not believe the guy.

Also, check out the Benevento/Russo Duo ( http://www.myspace.c...entorussoduocom ).

Keys and drums, but sounds like full band. Drummer plays keys in one hand while drumming with the rest of his limbs sometimes (as well as triggering beats and noises via a pad). Keyboardist runs his organ, bass foot pedals, whirlitzer and modified, circuit-bent children's toys through a Mesa halfstack, Twin Reverb and a Baby Gorilla amp. Instrumental, but powerful. My band toured the states with these guys and our minds were blown every night.

Check out their live album "Darts" if you are interested.

As for other keys/drum bands, Billy Martin and John Medeski came out with an album named Mago. Its pretty good.

EDIT

I am too excited about this collab.
