The notion that Omar "can't sing" is absurd. He sings his ass off on Xenophanes and Un Escorpion and it sounds great. It's just, for whatever reason, the vocals on alot of the Ipecac albums are pretty subdued.

There's a weird vocal effect he uses too, it sounds like a 64kb/s mp3 in places.

Umbrella Mistress is one of my favs. I don’t think it needs fixing but will be interesting to hear it without Teri backing him up and without a late 60’s, early 70’s pop sound. Not big on his vocals during the Eastern Promises verses (reminds me of the Running Away verses where he sounds completely out of tune and then the chorus is great). Great chorus and percussion though in EP.

Pretty awesome that he gave Johann complete producing control. How long has it been since Omar hasn’t produced an album of his?

Omar isnt singing on this. Virginia does. Theres some dude on reddit claiming that Johann told him its 3 different bands on 3 different parts but i seriously think its bullshit

It‘s possible. We know he has been at Clouds Hill more than once and the session with Virginia and Audrey lasted for one week. That‘s not much time to record 3 discs of material.

I received some questions about the artwork of Omar Rodríguez-López „The Clouds Hill Tapes Pt. I, II & III“

 

The artwork is a photograph of the original tape used for the session. It looks very high end because analog photography with the right lighting can look very high end. People these days tend to think that high end photography looks grainy compared to digital non-high end photos. It doesn’t!

Even the unwinding tape is real! It took two days to photograph it like this.

 

The cardboard slipcase features three cut outs (in the photo of the metal reel) like those tape reels have. So if you slip the vinyl in the grooves create the illusion of wound tape.

They fixed the shipping issue. If you ordered up until yesterday you can get a bonus vinyl. Otherwise they are now able to ship from the US for cheaper.

I was not expecting this and just accepted the steep shipping rate as part of the reality of ordering from Germany. Guess I will be getting me some free technoself
