well we made it, it's here. the drum solo is surprisingly one of the better songs. 7empest is cool.

Drum solo tracks weren’t good when Bonham did Moby Dick 45 years ago and they still aren’t today.

Definitely their most consistently loud album since Aenema. Every track just builds and builds and flips in itself to eventually rock out. I quite like it.

Definitely the best trance metal album I've ever heard so far. On Descending now. And I mean that as a compliment.

Tremendous music to workout too - listened to fear inoculum during workouts since it came out and had descending and invincible in the playlist today.....awesome stuff for endurance stuff like long runs with how trance like it all is.

Dare I say it’s a defiant tough sounding album, throw out the fact that it took 13 years, it sounds like a band confidently swinging on all fronts, punching hard this late in the career. If you’re on a Mars Volta forum like this one you’ll prolly like the album.

Well the album is nuts. Chocolate Chip Trip is strange but good, and I couldn't believe that 7empest just flies by! Gonna have to listen to that again.

definitely like the back 2/3rds of the album more than the first bit. as someone who also dislikes drum solos i found myself pleasantly surprised by how cool carey's was. given how successful the synths are with their sound im excited to hear what these interludes will bring. hearing maynard sing "cookies and cream" made me genuinely laugh. there was a bit of 4/4 dancey stuff (i think in pneuma) i was really turned off by, easy lowpoint for an otherwise good 8/10 album. i appreciated the pared down sound they have here

at this time and age why can't they just release the CD but with FLAC files instead of CDDA so the whole 85 minutes would fit on a CD?

Wondering if the 'wake up now, child' lyric on Pneuma is Carina Round singing the high octave...

Wish he had a little more heavy vocals on this but it really compliments the music well the way he does it.

Yeah I'm all for extended instrumental jams and whatnot, hello, but there are plenty of areas on Invincible and 7empest that would have benefitted from more, and more imaginative, vocals. That said, the band are fucking tight and I'd rather it be instrumental than have additional half assed vocals.
