I've listened to every Deftones album and I can say that White Pony is my favorite. To me, it seems to carry a different sound from the other albums. Each song on it has a different feeling to it.

buy adrenaline and around the fur, only about half the songs on white pony are good so i suggest downloading it. the only songs on the self titled one worth listening to are needles and pins and deathblow.

Deftones are amazing. Whoever said they are "too nu metal now" is a dunce - they're first two albums are the very definition of nu metal and their past two have been breaking away from that mold. I agree that White Pony is their best, just skip Back To School if you get the version with the added track. Its really beautiful, ethereal, agressive, and alien sounding music. Chino is my favorite vocalist ever, he has a really unique style that takes getting used to but is pure gold. Even when they seem brutish - as in their newest single, "Hexagram", they are being original and distinctive. Check out "Knife Prty", "When Girls Telephone Boys", "Feitceira" (thats probably spelled wrong), "Birthmark", "Around the Fur" and "Pink Maggit"

Definately download "Passenger" off White Pony. It's a duet with Maynard from Tool/A Perfect Circle.

As far as these heavy type bands go I find the Deftones to be very melodic.
My favourites are:

Bored
My Own Summer (Shove It)
Change (In the House of Flies)

Has anyone seen the acoustic in Hawaii version of Knife Party? That's very cool. Shame it doesn't have that chick screaming her lungs out in the background.

i do quite enjoy the rawness of adrenaline, around the fur for it's melodic transitions, and most of white pony.

heard the single from their newer album, didn't interest me at all, so...

I had to add my two cents for a band I appreciate, haven't seen much of them video/radio or any type of photo wise. never live. hmm, just the albums

I loved Deftones when Adrenaline came out, I went to four shows and I also loved Around The Fur. Since then my taste in music has changed, so when White Pony came out I bought and thought it was okay but it just wasn't for me anymore. Now I couldn't care less about them. In my opinion there are only six good nu-metal albums (which I don't ever listen to anymore, but that's besides the point):

Korn - Korn
Korn - Life Is Peachy
Korn - Follow The Leader
Deftones - Adrenaline
Deftones - Around The Fur
Deftones - White Pony

Nu-metal should´ve died after those albums. Right now almost all nu/metal bands are a complete joke. Seriously, I rather listen to Britney, Ashanti or Europe than listen to Linkin Park.

i really love the latest album. But it does feel like a little step backwards because it's altogether heavier than White Pony. I was really put off by the single Minerva and I still think that sucks, but it's the only bad song on the album.

i hate labels...and guess what? i hate the numetal label...like the emo label...some of the "numetal" i like...like soad, especially their self titled...and emo, i don't even know what that means anymore...like punk, no clue what it means...i need to take a vow to never ever use labels ever again...but who do i respond when someone asks "what music do you like?" ...maybe i should just make a little mixed cd of all of my favorite bands and hand it out to whoever asked me the question "what kinda music you like?"...it's an idea, but i'm lazy...

I never thought of "Deftones" as a "Nu-Metal"-band, they sound totally different from bands like "Linkin Park" or the other nu-m-shit.
It's true, their music isn't that innovative and most of it is in fact really easy to understand and to play, but I love the energy they have.
Chino Moreno is a great vocalist, he always sounds so desperate and true. There are many songs that really touch me ... like their latest single "Minerva". It sounds a lot like the old "Change", but that didn't bother me.

Would you mind changing Life Is Peachy for any of the other albums? Let´s say Untouchables...
Then, i agree, but would also add some System Of A Down :ninja:

I like the last Deftones´album but it hasnt captured me same White Pony did, no surprises this time but the sound and music still goes.
