I was thinking about how this forum has become relatively inactive since Omar started getting erratical about his projects and how most of the activity nowadays seems to happen in Neotokyo (pretty much all of the forums top posters are Neotokyo regulars) and I was thinking about moving some forums so they sit closer to each other now that the community has gotten smaller.

I was thinking of moving Mumbling of Citadels to Neotokyo so that it's a subforum like Viewing Lens is for movies instead of a separate forum inside "General Discussion", I think this could give the board a little more life since the regulars from Citadels and Neotokyo don't seem to mix too often and some people just stick to Neotokyo, but having both forums inside the same area could make "jumping" from one forum to another much easier.

It would look like this:

  1. General Discussion
    1.1. Neotokyo
           1.1.1. Main Neotokyo Forum
           1.1.1. Mumbling of Citadels (Music)
           1.1.2. Cut That City (Politics)
           1.1.3. Viewing Lens (Other media)

I just hit "see new posts" so the subforums are essentially irrelevant.

That being said, I took some time away from the boards and didn't have a computer and was surprised about how much I had to discuss when I came back. Which is to say, there are (at least) two different functionalities to the board – one is the everyday, checking in livejournal neotokyo stuff and the other is aggregating knowledge about music in general and ORL in particular, which is a longer-term, less "of-the-moment" endeavor. I don't think there's any need to mix them perse. That being said, the subforums are rather clunky especially given the lack of activity, so there may be a way of more intuitively organizing them.

I just have 3 bookmarks to the forums where I participate the most and I tend to mark everything else as read if there's nothing that catches my eye.
