let's get this out of the way! here it is, one of the most beautiful, deep, thoughtful, harmonic and groundbreaking songs ever recorded. enjoy!

I may not always love you
But long as there are stars above you
You never need to doubt it
Ill make you so sure about it

"I'm Waiting for the Day"

"I Know There's an Answer" (this song is about lcd haha)

Here's a hidden gem! Just got reissued, simply beautiful stuff, hard to tell it's from 1977, this is from Dennis's, Pacific Ocean Blue,

"Pacific Ocean Blue is a moody view of the SoCal landscape, and of Wilson's own interior life -- or his struggle to have one. From the environmental lament, "River Song," that opens the disc, we can hear a new kind of West Coast music emerging. It's not steeped in the weighty philosophical and political concerns that other Angelenos such as Jackson Browne were penning. Instead, it's a wispy rock tune revolving around a beautiful piano figure, shuffling guitars, and lyrics that take a personal concern for the state of the nature crumbling around it."

I was born into the city life
It's all that I've ever known
You know it's rough
gettin' round this place
So crowded I can hardly breathe

You can only see about a block or two
In L. A. that's the truth
I'm lookin' for some country life
Some kickin' room no more city life
I want the river

I myself, do not know a lot about these guys, I've only recently listened to Pet Sounds, so any suggestions from good albums, I think that Carl has some solo albums? Would be appreciated!

you should look for the American Spring album, i believe the back story is that it was a group that brian's wife was involved with and he wrote some of the songs on the album. like this one...

I spent this whole spring/summer binge listening to most of their albums post-PS. Ultimately 11 albums front to back multiple times (not including PS)... I made a playlist of my favorites that maybe you’d enjoy. Loving how much weird stuff they have and also “traditional” sounding stuff as well. On shuffle it’s a really enjoyable listen.

I got to recommend to any of you who haven't heard much a few albums. Besides the obvious 2 masterpieces of Pet Sounds and Smile Sessions you should listen to Smiley Smile, Friends, Sunflower, and Surf’s Up. All are so unique and amazing and I bet you Smile Sessions just might blow your mind

If you want the truly full experience, 6 of the songs of the 18 were left unfinished in the sessions but were completed in Brian Wilson’s 2004 solo album. I did an Apple Music playlist sequencing replacing any unfinished one with Brian’s recreation. It’s a flipping fantastic album that you should totally sit down and listen to...

Essential listening is the two masterpieces and those 4 I mentioned in my opinion.

That playlist is great! Thank you for putting it together!

Which 6 songs were unfinished?

In those Smile Sessions released by the archivists, there’s Do you Like Worms? which is missing the vocals and is retitled Roll Plymouth Rock on Brian Wilson’s recreation. Do you Like Worms has some vocal arrangements though that Brian doesn’t do though and a smoother nicer Hawaiian section. There’s Song For Children which was left without vocals and Child is The Father of Man that is real nice for The Beach Boys version but Brian’s version is supreme because of the added vocals and extra awesome orchestration... on the Smile playlist I made I exchanged Wonderful which comes before those two tracks even though Beach Boys version is complete because Brian’s version flows seamlessly through that entire mid section suite.

The last 3 songs that Brian finished that were left incomplete are I Am In Great Shape/I want to Be Around More, Holidays (renamed On A Holiday), and Love To Say Dada (renamed In Blue Hawaii), a freaking awesome Hawaiian song.

That full complete sequencing is on the other playlist I made above... it's in the same post that you quoted but I edited it with the Smile full sequence playlist.

Glad you enjoy it! I dig putting it on shuffle ever now and then. Really just shows how many different styles they went for with their songwriting.

No problem bud. As you can see I went from casual my-dad-likes-them-and-so-do-I fan to a rabid as hell fan over the course of several months. They’re a total mood booster in this dark time.
