This is a very, very, very general question, but I remember hearing a Rage song that was quite epic and I mean that it in the most conventional (almost TMV-esque) way. If you have any ideas, please let me know.

the ghost of tom joad?

and ratm is one the bands that i will ALWAYS be into
my fav is the battle of los angeles

Most of the stuff off of their s/t is longer, I don't know if you'd consider it epic.
But Ashes in the Fall comes to mind, its different than most of their other stuff, it's like an edgy techno song.

The only "epic" RATM song that comes to mind is one in which Zack is reading a poem while a simple yet very nice bass line goes on and on...over this, Tom plays some solos and does "weird" sounds...the song then slowly increases in intensity and Zack is almost screaming by the end. As i mentioned before this song is called "Hadda Be Playing In the Jukebox", but no one seemed to notice, therefore i explained it a bit...

Yes, it's possible, but Ashes seemed a little closer to TMV, with more parts and jitterness than the slow build of Hadda. But everyone's a winner, we are all beautiful.

The debut is fucking absolute gold one of the best cd ever. Evil Empire kicks ass. The Battle of Los Angeles is a gold to. Renegade was a bad end of the band. They was absolute one of the best band ever!

But now when Zack left the band and the rest sterted Audioslave its sucks :(

I really liked his solo song though, I'm hoping the rest of his CD will be as good as it. Especially since we've been waiting 5 FUCKING YEARS.

The battle of Mexico City was a good dvd but I like the dvd before that one where the guys are younger and full raw energy. As far as Audioslave, I think their music is good and it gave me the chance to see the band since I never saw Rage live. At the last Lollapolooza, I got the chance to meet Tom very quick and shake his hand at his Axis of Justice tent. Awsome! :ol_lol:

I don't like Audioslave, but I don't hate them like a lot of people. I think their softer moments are nice like Soundgarden's ballads were, but when they try to rock out, usually it becomes a little silly. I do hate the name though, it's been almost 3 years and I can't get used to it.
But they are really good live, it made me miss Rage all the more...if there'd been that amount of energy + Zack, and playing RATM songs, I probably would have orgasmed right there.

W/ the Mexico City dvd, I think it's a good performance, but bad editing. I had to watch it 4 or 5 times to really figure out what everyone was doing. The slow downs made it really weird, and half the time, one of them would jump off camera, or it'd cut to the audience right as they were about to rock out.

Heh, that's funny, I know exactly what song you're talking about although I don't know the names of any of their songs. Self-titled is my favourite. Killing In The Name Of!

My favorite part is when he goes "Aint it funny how the factorys doors close
Round the time that the school doors close
Round the time that the doors of the jail cells
Open up to greet you like the reaper"

Sleep now in the fire is such an amazing track. But then they had so many amazing tracks. Zack made me actually appreciate rap.

I bet you're thinking of Wake Up, that's the only epic sort of song of theirs that I can think of.... But I was also wondering when Zack is going to release his solo album, it was supposed to be released in 2003 but that never came to be. Apparently he just stopped working on it and I don't know if it will ever come out. While he did release 2 singles, it just isn't enough to release 2 songs in 4 years, especially in this political climate. If Rage had stayed together they'd be better than ever I think. There's no shortage of political inspiration in this country.

They would have been better than ever if they were on the same page, but I guess their personal differences were too much to get around. It's nice to fantasize about, but it couldn't have worked because it didn't. If that makes any sense.
There's plenty of fuel to inspire them theoretically, but if they can't stand each other enough to get in the same room to make music, then that doesn't really matter.
But it does suck balls, they really could be as relavent as ever. It's hard to say though, because a lot of artists are taking really easy pot shots at the current political ssituation, and I hope they would have taken a more poetic route.

Zach is actually touring.....

Zack de la Rocha is in Chile. Not hiding and not in public. But the fact is the ex Rage Against the Machine lead singer is touring Santiago, thanks to an invitation from a friend, cinematographer and DJ Leopoldo Luissetti.

"Working in music production for so long worked for something", joked Luissetti, who worked on producing DG Medios shows and now has De la Rocha on his side. "He came for vacation, to sight-see, and have a good time. He's having fun, touring", he states.

The musician [Zack] has been in Chile for a couple of days and this New Years his only public appearance will be at Club Amanda., located in the entrance of Vitacura. There he will spin some records and play songs by his former band. He was there last night, but had security remove some onlookers.
