Omar is one healthy grown up man. That's probably the most important thing of it all.

i thought the most interesting part of that interview is his apparent openness to possibly do music with at the drive in again.

I will shit myself if ATDI get together for some new tunes.

More power to Omar if he enjoys and loves what he's doing but I'm sadly not enjoying his recent releases and Bosnian Rainbows live stuff. Wish I could.

Please don't flame me either... I'm not trying to pass my opinions off on others. Just sharing how I feel. Omar and Cedric have been my favorite musicians for years and I have always embraced the choices they made, but this just feels different.

Can't explain why but I feel like "new ATDI" will be the nail in the coffin.

What do you mean? It will be the nail in the coffin for your future enjoyment of Omar's music or something else?

Either way, I really doubt new ATDI will happen

Not looking forward to At The Drive In if new stuff happens. Just not my cup of tea.

I gotta say, just from the live stuff, im enjoying these Bosnian Rainbows tunes just as much as any TMV. "Fun" is my favorite tune at the moment. The raw energy of these songs, but with the simplicity and 80's synthpop vibes. A little bit of Krautrock Can stuff in there as well. It's right up my alley musically. And i cant get enough of Deantoni's 1 hand keyboard playing with just a snare/kick/high-hat. It's goddamn beautiful lol!

I don't care much for Omar nowadays, I should say. I just hope that, if TMV is to break up, Cedric will continue to create some music and won't disappear from music scene. He is one of my maybe two or three most favorite musicians.

But...Omar did ALL the music. Cedric "only" wrote the obscure lyrics and the vocal melodies. Sure, the vocal melodies are great. But so are the vocal melodies on xenophanes (Omar) or Bosnian rainbow (Teri).

Cedric is a great entertainer (and so is Robbie Williams. I dont like his music, but he IS a great entertainer) and Cedric has cool dancing moves, but besides that....? What makes him a great artist?

Cedric's got an amazing voice. He sounds great if he's singing or screaming. He's got killer lyrics, too.

He's fantastic at vocal melodies. Lyrics as well. But i have yet to see him create something musically. He has 2 solo albums in the pipeline, so we'll see when that comes out...i mean im sure he's written some stuff with At The Drive In but i dont really pay attention to that band. He is definately an artist. Writing lyrics/poetry, creating a graphic novel, designing art for merch, singing, and now creating his own music. "Great" artist is only a matter of opinion. There's no such thing as a good artist and a bad artist as a fact...but he IS an artist.

Yes, i like his voice very much. Very unique. Don´t get me wrong. I, a person with zero creativity (besides cooking ;) ) have full respect for every person (including cedric), who is able to sing, write, draw, paint or anything like that. But the real ARTIST behind TMV is/was Omar. Of course many of you will disagree...

EDIT/
Of course there is such a thing as good or bad art.

Not all of it - Cedric receives writing credit on a number of Volta songs, Drunkship being one. He's also written several ATDI songs, Arc Arsenal among them. Of course Omar's music has been a big part of Cedric's output, but Cedric's vocals have been a huge part of Omar's. It'll be interesting to see what Cedric produces solo. I'm not a great fan of Omar's stuff without Cedric myself.

LOL at comparing BR and Xeno vocals to Cedric's brilliance. I seriously question your musical aesthetic sense.

P.S. "Going Deep" with Omar Rodriguez-Lopez sounds like a porn title.

Cool. I mock your musical aesthetic sense too. Seriously, based on what you're saying here, I think Courtney Love could sing with Omar, and you'd be happy. Some of us have higher standards.

He doesn't sound great screaming anymore. Did you see any of the reunion videos or see them live? It was still cool to see them in person though.

How can you tell he doesn't sound great screaming anymore? He actually never screamed during these reunion shows, because he chose not to.
