Yeah for me it was the year i moved out. The soundtrack to my first taste of independence

Yeah the independence thing was there for me too. Finally getting out of a shitty relationship, having the apartment to myself for the end of the winter to get over things, then bam - Sunshine, freedom, new love, and trip to Hawaii. All with that album as the soundtrack.

I remember it was leaking one track at a time on Limewire. I still have a notebook with the track list with check marks next to the songs. Torture Me was the first song. I also remember live versions of Readymade and Tell Me Baby. Relax everybody, I ended up purchasing the album. A couple times over the years. And the big box with all the little extras.

Hahahah I’ve bought SA twice - the big silly box thing they did back then and then the vinyl like 2 years ago....such a great sounding record on vinyl.

Him and Jon Theodore now on multiple tracks - for a band this deep into their career and doing a reunion album of sorts, this new bright eyes album seems pretty awesome....all 3 songs have been unique and great, if you’re into some groovy kind of indie rock stuff! One song even has bagpipes!

RHCP in studio.  I could have sworn I watched some short video posted on facebook taken from the photo with John in it, but it isn't there any more. The song sounded like something off of I'm Beside You...Anyway, get excited fellas.

(CNN)Jack Sherman, a guitarist who played on the Red Hot Chili Peppers' debut album, has died at 64, the band announced on Instagram.

"He was a unique dude and we thank him for all times good, bad and in between. Peace on the boogie platform," the post reads.

The cause of death was not disclosed.

A little more info on how they are at work a few days a week now.....

Looks like rick Rubin is likely back in the producer saddle again - had really wondered if frusciante would just take the reins this time.

I'm not that much into the RHCP world these days but it sounds to me like that could lead to trouble, it's better if they all have the same level of input, I just wish they self produced it, one would believe they would be experienced enough by now

I would hope the 4 write up all the songs and do a little work with rick where he acts like an executive producer (which he mostly does anyway). I know there was interviews with josh where he’d kind of implied in his era that the producers had too much say and the band deferred to them too much in terms of what songs make the record, etc.

Knowing johns personality from what we’ve seen over the years, have to assume that won’t be the case here and that the 4 of them are just locked in on releasing the songs they collectively feel most passionate about. They’re one of the biggest bands on the planet - they should do whatever they want with this album in terms of the songs that are on it, the sound of it, etc. I for one am stoked to see what frusciante brings to a rock band after basically not writing rock music for 14 years.

Anyone ever wonder if Frusciante would ever do lead vocals on an RHCP song. Flea has at least once. I have a hard time picturing it but would be cool if they could make it work.

John has sang lead vocals unaccompanied by Anthony on the chorus for tunes like knock me down or dosed (the “way upon the mountain where she diiiieeeeedddd” part is all him). So yeah he does sing the occasional unaccompanied lead vocal but I think they have kind of cemented positions where John occupies the harmony and backing vocal world and will work untold wonders there.
