eternal-necessity/futility of revolution.

Care to say more?

Kind of hard to recap what he goes over in 20 pages of dense writing, but more or less, revolutions accomplish next to nothing because a new tyrannical leadership will take over every time, but they are absolutely necessary because every time we adopt a new system, it gets slightly better. So even if things seem pretty good, they need to be revamped in the hopes of something better. But mostly he discusses the differences between having royalty and having a republic.

Don't have my copy on me or I'd check it for better details, but I think that's about right... probably way off tho :P

Oh, ok, cool. Yeah, most people just read The Metamorphosis and end their study there. Personally, my favorite K. short is A Sudden Walk

that's a great story indeed!
my personal favourite is The Country Doctor -> talk about kafka doing lynch avant la lettre lol

Can this thread please be stickied? The ball is actually rolling on his movies now and this would be a nice place to gather info on all of them. Especially if Koral is going to keep updating the first post.

I don't mean to toot my own horn but I agree, I think this thread is sticky worthy. I think it's a really useful thread, I even reference it for info myself from time to time when Omar's films come up in conversation. I do keep the first post updated.

Koral, you should update La Venganza De Los Labios Extranjeros.
In this video, he gives a little bit of information about it and some of
his other movies.
He also mentions Gozu, which is a really good movie by the way.

In case you don't know spanish, he says that work for this movie begins in August (of 2009).
This is before Los Chidos, so this is his sixth film.

Does he actually say anything about it? I'm not a Spanish speaker but as far as I was aware he just said the title of that and Letters from Dystopia and nothing more.

Not really, other than work begins in August and that Boiling Death Request is being edited.
Better than nothing..

Oh gotcha, I'll add that then. I wish we knew more about that and Letters from Dystopia, it's odd that the only time he ever mentioned them is in one interview.

Now that one of Omar's films is officially out I figured this thread is relevant enough to be pinned, so I have done so.

Just got this response from Adam Thomson about El Divino:

El Divino is still a work in progress but hopefully it will be completed
this year. Its a very loose film in the way we approached and shot it.
Its a linear story but a lot of the scenes can be moved around and its
gone through many different versions in post over the last 2/3 years and
has been a lot of fun editing and rewriting. We reworked it last spring
after we had visited Hamburg again (where we shot the film) and got
inspired by seeing the familiar locations. It's taken on a new shape and
I'm really happy with it. It needs maybe another pass on the edit, and
then ADR and a complete sound design. To me, its the most "Godard" of
all of our films in a sense of how we approached and shot it. I don't
know if that comes through to the viewer or not, but was there for me
while working on it. The score for the film is my favorite Omar score.
Really hope we get this film done soon.

What are you currently working on?

A new album for The Glitch Mob and a new DVD for Omar Rodriguez Lopez.

Los Chidos I'm guessing.

Posting here to help raise awareness. Kickstarter campaign from people that backed Omar as a film maker. If you pledge $25 you'll have access to see Los Chidos in August. If you have any interest in this, help spread the word.
