Similarities? Well yeah, personally, I think it's awesome that they would use it, I'm sure a lot of people think they're rip offs, and I'm sure a lot of people will never even know who Mr Bungle is.

same here, except i hadnt listened to mr bungle in about two years, and after hearing the new mars volta album, i figured id give all my bungle albums a whirl, and JEEEZZ... .SHITloads of similarities in the guitar/aux percussion/effects/keys. but the vocals have nothing in common, nor do the drums.That's really weird that you posted that, I was listening to Goodbye Sober Day today and noitced the similarities.
I don't think it's quite the same though.

Mr Bungle is a great deal more eclectic than TMV.
This is true.
But it's also very true that their music is straight kitsch much of the time. That's the one thing that always kept Bungle from enduring in my mind. Disco Volante and California are solid albums, but sometimes it feels like they jump around genres more as a smirking joke than as an artistic statement.
