i predict the band will break up after their first live date this year when all the string players accidentally slit their wrists on those ugly ass shell guitars

I hope we get a whole album like Planet B.  I'm not super into the stuff we've heard so far for the new one being released this month.

yeah me too. i wasnt a fan of great chain of being but this track is pretty solid and they have yet to really explore proper heavy music like this in earnest. the prospect of thrash metal with two drums and three guitars is interesting

King Gizzard doing blast beats. 2019 continues to prove itself as the dankest timeline.

couldn't disagree more.  I only did one listen so far, but every song is a real treat.  The theme of starting from a King Gizzard version of Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young to a dystopian 80's dance party really works for me.  It gets meatier, more electronic, and less folky as the album progresses.

i could've worded that better. what i mean are my impressions of it are similar to those from gumboot in that there werent enough strong tracks for me to really like it. the light and acoustic -> heavy and electronic progression i appreciated for sure. like reals not real and the bird song and acarine are my favorites on the album and they're all 7s

I take back what I said about the new album.  It's actually really good.  Pleasantly surprised.

Cyboogie was a bad single choice. It works as the culmination of the change in sound but on its own legs it's not a strong song

Agree completely. Cyboogie was an odd single. Choice. This Thing should have been the first single. That song is mainstream but fun as hell.

I haven't been keeping up with their release. Especially the 5 albums year.

I just listened to Quarters ! which I really enjoyed and I also listened to the new album. Cool stuff.

What would you recommand except Nonagon ?

Did you like nonagon? If so then Murder of the Universe is basically it’s sequel.

Would also check out Sketches of Brunswick East.

Thanks guys, great recommandations.

It seems to my own surprise that I prefer their softer side. Nonagon was a bit irritating to me if I remember correcly. Or was it the banana one ?

Any idea why are people comparing them to tool in youtube comments section ?

I found banana on the annoying side, but it’s ok. Nonagon was the hook for me with this band.

No idea why anyone would compare them to tool. They aren’t alike at all IMO.

Looks like they are releasing something titled "Self Immolate" on May 29.  They posted a teaser on twitter https://twitter.com/...956147740086276 .   Sounds similar to Planet B.  I'm guessing this is another new song and not a whole album?
