I just though I'd resurface this thread b/c i just d/led a live session they did and it rocks fucking hardcore. I heard good things about them live, but wasn't sure about the actual sound quality of thier stuff. They are sooooo tight live it's ridiculous, I think TMV could take some cues from their improv abilities, going off on interludes w/o losing a song's momentum.

I'm a fan of the drum-and-bass thing they have going, it's interesting stuff.

Nothing I could really "get into", but it's definately an interesting listen.

They are on tour!

I'll definitely be at one of their European shows. I hope they can live up to my expectations. Don't miss out on them!

Only Europe? Darn. And it's too bad their new album got delayed.

Oh, fuck that. I've been waiting to see them nearly a year. But whenever their album comes out I'm sure they'll tour.

Any idea if they allow video at their shows? That'd be helpful.

The individual songs on Ride the Skies i think are better, but as a whole i always end up, by the end of the album being ilke, haven't i heard this before like 20 minutes ago?

Either way, there's not much better than having Assassins come on right after a quiet folk song.

Lightning Bolt is a terrific band that explores "noise" in a way that is ten times better than a group like the Black Dice, similar as they may be. Ride the Skies is quickly becoming a favorite of mine.

Amazing live band (I can join the convo again now that I saw them, hehe) for sure. There were maybe 30 people at the show, very small club, the actual stage had all their amps on there, the drummer was in front of the stage, the bass player right next to him on the left. They invited people to stand around the drum kit and it was just generally very cool. Near the end they just moved the kit into the very center of the club (which is like 30 feet in diameter only anyway) and it seemed as if they would never want to stop playing. After the first encore the drummer emptied a pint within a few seconds, then convinced the bass player to turn on his amp again and play another song. Way too hot for the mask, though, so for the most part played without it.

They were so loud... anyone who didn't have earplugs either left or put tissues in their ears.

Only negative aspect was that they ran out of 'Wonderful Rainbow' so I didn't get a chance to pick that one up. Oh well.

They're raw and hardcore. te bassist is good, the drummer is good, so I guess: the band is good.

I'd say bring a pair or buy some at the venue.
