Any notable System fans here? I felt like dicussing the guys since a new member of ours reminded me to. They've been pretty dorment for the past few years, especially because Steal This Album wasn't even new work. I'd like to know your opinions on their albums, and if you're excited about the next one, slated for December. Serj said it has Kraftwerk and Beach Boys influences on it also, which is totally whacky but definitely something to look forward to. We could actually probably cover more on this board about them, since the SOAD forums are scrambled and no good anyway. I love the self-titled, and Steal This Album equally. Steal This Album is an excellent. Toxicity is still decent, just because it had some truly exceptional moments (Deer Dance, Science, Toxicity, Arials", but it also had some super shitty songs.

I agree w/ Toxicity. I had nothing against its popularity, I want all my favorite bands to sell millions of records, but it felt like a step back in development from their debut. The riffs felt sloppier, the vocals cheesier and more elementary and the drums were whacked half heartedly. Also, I'd listened to some of the demos, like for Deer Dance, and they had a much more smooth, yet intense feel to them. Like for the little harmonic part, there was a bell that went *ding*, which really added character, but it just felt flat in the final mix.

It's crazy STA came from the same sessions b/c I liked it so much better, it felt a lot closer to their debut in terms of tightness and energy, but with a better command of melody. I didn't like some of the cheesy lyrics though, especially near the end. But if their goal was to make a record different from their debut, I can see why they picked the Toxicity tracks, since they are more noticably different than their self titled.

Their self titled is one of my favorite albums to this day. I don't know what to say. It's dark and punchy, has great lyrics and rocks the fuck out.

Their new effort is supposed to be a lot more melodic, but a lot more jittery too. Which sounds interesting. Daron said it will also have more technical elements to it. So I'm looking foward to this upcoming winter with baited breath.

Toxicity certainly did have sime grand moments of shite as well as some really great songs (as listed above). I loved "Steal....." way more because the songs were just that little bit more out there. they were great live too.....finishing on Aerials, foooking amazing!

I used to love them when their debut came out. I went to one of their shows (opening for Slayer) and they rocked. Then when Toxicity came out I wasn't really interested anymore. Haven't heard Steal this album. But they're the only "nu-metal" band that I respect.

As did I. It was only appropriate. Interestingly, out of the 5 or 6 cds I yanked it was the only one with a security tag.

The debut album is pretty fine.

Toxicity was okay, it had some shite songs though.

Was listening to them yesterday. I have a few excellent live videos from Conan Obrien and the like. They absolutely own with their performance of Spiders. Serj is a god. Shame Darron is a prat.

I wish they would add more of their cultural background into their music. I personally love his voice...

Their next album is supposed to have a lot more of the eastern influence.

i'm quite a big fan as well.

joeri said it best, they're the only nu-metal band i still care for.

steal this album pwns the hardest so far. hopefully their new one will rock just as much.

and yes, his voice is very unique, in a very awesome way.
