So, last night, I went to a local venue in Birmingham to see Jason Marsalis play with John Ellis and doublewide. The band they were touring with I had never heard of. So, these dudes come on, a bassist, sick fucking drummer, guitarist, keyboardist, trumpet and saxophone players, and percussionist. It might have been the most beautiful music I have ever heard live. Holy shit, check them out and buy their shit.
Maybe a download link?? Maybe??

Woah, this dude liked them before it was cool!
Anyone else into them? Sick tight.
(That vocal solo's insane.)

Yeah! It can get a little bit too chopsy for me but overall, I like them! They won a grammy recently.

Along with Oddarrang, John Scofield Überjam Band and Tigran Hamasyan.

Oh fuck, that's awesome! Haven't heard of Oddarang but seriously... Scofield is the man!
And Tigran, he features on this! Lovely tune.

Tigran sounds super interesting, Oddarrang is a finnish band that has gotten some sweet reviews and their sound is like rock-jazz, really cool, I'm exited.

The big main artist is Pet Shop Boys (I guess you figured it's a festival) but I really couldn't care less about them, the sound is okay but it's like listening to a greatest hits album, the performance is very stale.

Well, god DAMN!
Michael League, what a guy! And that percussionist, insane! And Cory Henry!
These guys are all monsters at what they do, so inspiring!

Wow. I've seen these guys mentioned by multiple unrelated people all over the place, Facebook friends and so on, always had the impression they were some kind of jazz-influenced indie band, didn't actually listen to them. Now I have, and goddamn, they're the real deal! Straight up jazz fusion, achieving real popularity in the 21st century? I am okay with this. Great stuff.

^Nice, fun idea!
Haha, I'm really not that into these guys anymore. The solos aren't that inspiring to me (except for maybe the Lingus solo) and it all mostly just feels to clean and safe.
