YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS.

So....everything. Takes all those indie cliches and makes them good. It has just become one of my 2004 favs.

I don't see the big deal about them.

I like them. In The Back Seat, Laika, Power's Out and Tunnels are great songs.

I was a little dissapointed at first b/c it has a bit of a retro feel, the singer has that out of tune voice and there's some of the disco beat going on, all indie cliches to me, but I think a lot of the melodies are just sweeping, which is what really does it for me.

It's not bad. It definetly takes a few listens.

If you want a song to be the guiding point, for me its Rebellion (Lies). Really good song.

I don't think there are any songs on the CD which are shockingly different, so unless it grows on you after repeated listens, it's probably not for you.
For me, a favorite is track 4, Power Out. As well as Wake Up, but that could be just because of a pavlovian response to hearing a RATM song name.

You're the one who recently told me you're not getting any enjoyment out of music at all.

I dont know. I know I enjoy it. It definitely strikes an emotiona chord in me. But theres that Walkmen shield that mentally keeps me from actually really getting into them. Which is kinda weird. Because I always like the Walkmen's atmosphere and the piano and bells they used and stuff, and I just wished they were...I dont know....better. And thats basically what Arcade Fire is. So I should love them. But the Walkmen have already plagued my mind and now I can't enjoy anything that sounds like them. I think its probably the U2 comparisions that made me not like the Walkmen. and I kinda hear that filtered down into the Arcade Fire. Damn you U2, when will you stop ruining music for people like me???

I like 'em a lot! I'm listening to them now, matter of fact.

"Wake Up" is a pretty sharp song. As is the first track

My sister was telling me about them last week, but I haven't gotten around to listening to them. I'm starting to lose track of all the new music I've been listening to lately, it's insane.

This is a very good band, although the "motivating" stories behind their music are quite saddening. However, Funeral is a good record, although I should probably listen to more before I make a final judgement.
