We will be releasing a Double album of the best of Omar's solo albums. I would love to hear your honest feedback on what you would pick as the top 25-30 choices from his entire body of work not including TMV or ATDI or DeFacto. Just from the solo stuff.

A full list and all the albums can be streamed in their entirity here: http://omardigital.r...roductions.com/

Thanks to all of you that take the time to really think about it and who don't turn this question into some bash session or stupid joke session, I'm truly being serious and would like to hear all your thoughts on what you think are the best of the best.

Your sometimes Pal. Cathy

as cool as this is we really don't need this as much as we need new material. the cost would be the same for SH wouldn't it? we as fans would definitely get more out of it. if you don't mind me asking, what is the motivation here?

It's not for us, it's for promotion (I guess)... maybe there's an special The Sentimental Engine Slayer bundle pack that comes with this double album.

Cathy, if you didn't think about that I would put it into consideration haha.

It really depends on what you want to showcase out of his vast catalog. I will make a list based on accessibility as well as his best guitar work. In order from oldest to newest...

A Manual Dexterity:
Dyna Sark Arches
Deus Ex Machina

Absence:
Tied From Digs on the Docks

Omar Rodriguez:
Vondelpark Bijnacht
Spookridgen Op Het Fietspad

Se Dice Bisonte No Bufalo:
Rapid Fire Tollbooth
Se Dice Bisonte No Bufalo
If Gravity Lulls I Can Hear the World Pant
Boiling Death Request a Body to Rest its Head on

Apocalypse:
Melting Chariots
Jacob Van Lennepkade II
Spared From the Insult List
Coma Pony

Calibration:
El Monte Tai
Cailbration
Lick the Tilting Poppies
Las Lagrimas de Arakuine

Old Money:
Private Fortunes
Family War Funding (Love those Rothschilds)
I like the Rockefellers First Two Albums But After That...
Old Money

Despair:
In Einem Jahr Mit 13
Liebe Ist Kalter Als Der Tod
Satansbraten
Angst Essen Seele Auf
Martha
Rio Das Mortes
Warnung Vor Einer Heilgen Nutte
Chinesisches Roulette
Lola
Angst Vor Der Angst

Xenophanes:
Ojo Al Cristo De Plata
Sangrado Detras De Los Ojos
Desarraigo

Solar Gambling:
Un Buitre Amable Me Pico
Vasco Da Gama

Ciencia:
Lunes
Miercoles

I don't know. This is so hard to do. Maybe find a way to divide his songs between rock oriented stuff and softer stuff to go on two separate discs sort of like two conceptual discs. It's hard to really get a feel for his solo material without listening to the experimental, psychedelic stuff.

i left out the jeremy ward, despair, and lydia lunch album cause i can't honestly choose one, because i dont know them well enough, cause i dont really like them very much and don't listen to them..... and yeah, that's 34, its hard not to be biased, i like some albums/type of omar solo songs more then others. some of these are must haves though (if you plan to satisfy me at least) i put them in bold. but i guess its really about what you're looking for :)

Hands tied, melting chariots, coma pony, locomocion/vasco de gama, poincare need to be on there in my opinion. I think a chronological tracklist would work really well, since it's going to be a double album, perhaps it would be cool to do one disk of the Amsterdam series and previous albums (minus the collaborations? presumably please heat this.. isn't going to be on there) and one disk of the more recent stuff?

I think is slightly overdue if anything! I will be interested to see what ends up on there.

HAHAHa everyone post\s their personal playlists. But I'd trust Dandy. His his is pretty sweet. A little Chronological. but still goood as fuck. I'd replace a few "Megaritual" songs and "Apocalypse" but otherwise that's pretty decent. Given that I haven't read everyone else's but his(hers?) is pretty damn good. Most "poppiest" (if that word is applicable) of tracks but pretty damn good.

It's hard to get a fanboy's opinion because they'll take almost (see: despair & ORL&JMW) anything omar outputs but i thouhgt Dandelion's was prety solid. I'll have to scour everyone else's.

....Isn't this album Japan only? I remember reading that somewhere. I might be wrong....(cue Amnesica)

Edit: I doubt Crimson Kook's list is under 80 minutes but that's pretty good. Any solo tracks featuring vocals are decent. Thanks, Cathy, for seeking fan input. that's pretty fucking cool. Love SH to death. Introduced me to mucha buena musica. Gracias, senora.

too hard to choose the best, I think it more deals with what tracks sound good together in the context of the entire whole. you could pick mostly anything from his catalogue and it stands out alone as fantastic but might not fit right with other songs if put together in certain orders. That is something i don't hear people acknowledge with omar is his placement and selection of tracks for his albus, I think it is very advanced.
