my friend own's a cd and I could probably obtain it and do a rip, i'm not sure what album it is though, i'll find out this week. I don't really care for the music though, doesn't do anything for me.

Does anybody have the Golden and Rhythm-Beat Jazz EP? I can't find it anywhere on slsk (yet). It sounds really interesting. All instrumental + the horn section from HiM...

This two-song, 20 minute instrumental EP finds Golden deeply immersed in an exploration of the Afro-pop, rhythm-beat world (ie, contemporaries of Fela Kuti). Here Golden tone down the heavy guitar riffs featured in the Super Golden Original Movement LP/CD and focus their concentration on building and sustaining a complicated and thrilling rhythmic scheme. These two songs were recorded at the Trans Am recording studio onto 8-track and feature Fred Erskine (from June Of '44/The Boom) on trumpet, Carlo Cennamo (from The Boom/The Sorts) on alto-sax and Josh LaRue (from The Sorts) on trombone.

Golden and Rhythm-Beat Jazz is a musical collective under the direction of the following individuals: Phil Manley from Trans Am, Alex Minoff from Six Finger Satellite, Jon Theodore who spends time with the Royal Trux, and Ian Eagleson who simply plays the role of his own bad self.

Just found this little gem over the weekend (old vinyl stack in Amoeba). The first side is "Songhai Suprise" and side B is "Shatzie Hatari." Have it in wav if anyone's interested.

Bought that Afro Beat 12" some weeks ago. I really like it a lot.
The extra musicians on it are also playing (except one) on HiM's Our Point of Departure (and maybe more but I only have that one).

Yes. It's just Golden with some cool percussion and sax parts.
My choice!

And a new Extra Golden record is coming out in august. Yes!

yeah, its a hard one to find on the web. I had to rip it from the 12" with serato. wish this incarnation of the band would've done more work together.

Golden recently made most of their catalog available online at
http://www.extragolden.com/store.html
(scroll halfway down the page)

All four albums are available (3 of them on LP), as well as the Rhythm-Beat Jazz 12" and Violator 7"

i hope you still post here

i just got apollo stars today. wow. this band is so criminally under rated and it's a shame how unknown they are.

reminds me of !!! only 10 times better and a lot more diverse/weird.
