Nice line-up.
And a guest appearance by TMV, playing stuff from album 6 live for the first time. Oh no, that was a dream.

This is great! ...But the cheapest posted "badge" is $595!

14. Can I buy a one-day pass to SXSW Music? Hide

Unfortunately, we do not sell single session or single day passes to the event. As compared to other events, the low registration price of the the SXSW Music and Media Conference makes for an extraordinary value. Even if you are only able to attend for one or two days, the amount of information and networking opportunities afforded by the event make the registration price a bargain.

I've heard you can attempt to stand in line to pay for singles shows at SXSW but they let the badge holders in first and sometimes venues fill up to capacity before that even happens.

That's lame as fuck. Hopefully some more southern dates will come from this. No way in hell I'd pay 595 for a badge.

Here's hoping:
-They let in non-badge holders for a "reasonable" price.
-It's not 21+ like last year's Sargent House showcase (God I'll only be fucking 20)
-The doorman likes my boobies.
-They play multiple shows around town (unofficial sxsw ftw!)

That's all I got. I do NOT have 500+ extra dollars.

@Rono: You're probably dead on accurate about Record Companies but it leaves a bad taste in my mouth to associate that statement with a photo of Zappa, nothing personal just sayin music as an industry is at a wierd place right now. The badges are basically passcodes for the worlds most elite Facebook Music page. It's a system built around networking, smoozing, and the occasional ass kissery as well, naturally.

@abrext: I always hear about the best unofficial SX after they've already happened, I'm going to scour the internet after this post for a blog to follow that updates on the SXSWUnderground because I know one is out there, there has just has to be. I'll keep this thread updated on my search for sure.
Also bouncer's loooooove the boobies, even the lady ones.
And finally, it'll probably be 21+ again, but c'mon you need to at least attempt to pull the wool over the ID checker's eyes, America was built on kids sneaking into shows, have faith!

@the guy with the Rick James gif: fuck yo girlfriends sisters boyfriend, Nigga!!!! I may stream everything online now but when I get a chance to support a live act I try not to pass it up ...if it's reasonably priced that is. Have some respect at least and buy a vinyl sticker.

I remember when there was almost a quick European tour in September, I was getting pretty excited for that until it all got cancelled. I was hoping he would follow it up with something in the next few months, but looks like its time for new Mars Volta, can't complain really.

I haven't lived in Texas long but I've heard from a friend who see bands in both Austin and Houston that, although more good stuff comes through Austin, the Houston shows are almost always better. Apparently it's the difference in the audience alone that gets the musicians to put on a better show.
Read what you will into that but I'll be making the drive out to Houston if there is a show out there. I'd be happy to leave Austin in the trafficfuck of SXSW for a night.

even the shows that you can pay to get in, they allways let people in with wristbands before the paying customers, so suck it pucked in my car.
