Anybody look into this stuff? It's amazing. I'm sure there's already been a post about them.

Yeah, golden has an odd sound to their music, but yes, I have heard of them. Their self-titled release is good, worth buying anyways

Jon was a guest on a radio show a while back and mentioned that his Golden buddies had recorded some material in Africa with another drummer. Here's the info on that Golden related project.

For Jon's overall best Golden drumming performances (IMO, of course) check out the following songs...

"Vitamin G"
"Titeshock"
"Hinsdale"
"Baja Grip"
"Cleaveland Steamer"
"Mafi Mingi"

I didn't feel like sharing all four albums, so I have those particular songs shared on slsk.

I really dig his two-handed sixteenth note disco beat on "Feel This Flow" particularly. Those hi-hat accents in between the kick pulses are soo instructive.

Does anybody have the Golden and Rhythm-Beat Jazz EP? I can't find it anywhere on slsk (yet). It sounds really interesting. All instrumental + the horn section from HiM...

This two-song, 20 minute instrumental EP finds Golden deeply immersed in an exploration of the Afro-pop, rhythm-beat world (ie, contemporaries of Fela Kuti). Here Golden tone down the heavy guitar riffs featured in the Super Golden Original Movement LP/CD and focus their concentration on building and sustaining a complicated and thrilling rhythmic scheme. These two songs were recorded at the Trans Am recording studio onto 8-track and feature Fred Erskine (from June Of '44/The Boom) on trumpet, Carlo Cennamo (from The Boom/The Sorts) on alto-sax and Josh LaRue (from The Sorts) on trombone.

Golden and Rhythm-Beat Jazz is a musical collective under the direction of the following individuals: Phil Manley from Trans Am, Alex Minoff from Six Finger Satellite, Jon Theodore who spends time with the Royal Trux, and Ian Eagleson who simply plays the role of his own bad self.

I'm also looking for the Golden Chet's Jalopy, Victory Is Ours and Deep Skills/Violator singles.

I have two 7"'s of them, Chet & Violator. Both are really good, but as I said, I'm a big fan of Alex. The sound is closer to their Super Original Movement-sound then the Apollo Stars sound (which is my favourite album of them).

I'm gonna buy that 12" (EP) this year, so before the end of 2006 I can tell you how it sounds.

You wouldn't happen to be sharing any of those singles on Slsk, would you?
