The soundtrack to The Holy Mountain is an amazing work of Free Jazz for the most part, composed by Don Cherry.

Okay, what Jazz album would you recommend to someone who wants to get into jazz but knows nothing about it and doesn't own a single jazz record?

I have a collaboration between Sun Ra and John Cage, which is sourced from vinyl. Pretty crazy stuff, there is some info on the collaboration here: http://www.johncage..../meltdown1.html I can do a megaupload if people would like to hear.

i dig coltrane's interstellar space and ornette coleman's the shape of jazz to come. when i first heard them they sounded like noise to me, but i read an interview in modern drummer with zach hill, and that opened up my mind a little bit. i have a new found appreciation for them.

Or he/she could stop being a pussy and download some Sun Ra, some Peter Brotzman and a lil' bit by someone I like to call John Zorn.
(And the album in my signature.)
