the fact that it is by omar rodriguez lopez group and not by omar rodriguez lopez, plus the fact that the album cover has been known for quite some time, plus the fact that it sounds like mantra hiroshima style to me, makes me think that the album was recorded in 2007-ish.

It sounds like some of the keys are played by Omar and some are played by Mark.

if Omar's guitar playing were better, the self-title Orange EP woulda been my favorite... Apocalypse is really really good tho, that's from Amsterdam right? O.o

Gotta admit I keep giving them more listens and I hear more good stuff so I guess it's just that theory of repeated listens at work.

i think this album is not so much like the amsterdam stuff but more like what came directly after that period.
amsterdam series is more conventional in a way. s/t, apocalypse, bufalo, please heat this eventually, these records are jazzy and improv but much less chaotic than woman gives birth. the stuff that came after the amsterdam series was still jazzy, but with more chaos and sound barfing if you'll excuse my french.
calibration and megaritual go in this direction already, and these were the last few things he did in amsterdam (if i remember correctly. especially calibration was not even finished in amsterdam. right after the amsterdam period he started recording different stuff, like the material which would end up as cryptomnesia. (and some stuff that would end up on amp) and i think that mantra hiroshima was recorded during that period as well. and this one too.

I would be seriously fucking impressed if Omar was playing the piano on this.
