Finally watched. Definitely more in the vein of TSES but with higher production quality/better acting. His best movie yet IMO. Soundtrack was done by somebody else, not Omar, but I thought it worked really well. Kind of Trent Reznor-ish at some points. Leo from the Clouds Hill Tapes is credited for piano.

You might be on to something honestly, I hadn't thought of that. Everything up until now pointed to Omar doing the soundtrack. Either they swapped the music with some unknown musician at the last minute, or it's a pseudonym.
For anyone wondering, the music credits are:
Film Score: Alma Zayas Perez
Music Supervisor: John Cruz
Piano: Leo Genovese
Orchestrator: Jonathan Debaun

Yeah the soundtrack kind of sounds how I imagine more recent ORL electronic/dubby music to sound like. One sound in particular reminds me of Mood Swings. And some latin percussion, a bit like Private Fortunes in TSES. Could be Marcel aswell. The name sounds like an alias. there's also a moment when a germs song is playing.

I'm honestly really surprised to see people say that soundtrack is "standard score stuff" or so. For me, the music is really really omarish, especially considering the mellotron use. most of the melodies are really in a similar vein to recent (starting with ipecac) omar music. At one point I heard a noise-ish sound really similar to cryptomnesia guitar stuff - really short one, for 1 or 2 seconds, but very distinctive. No guitar wankery solos, songs or complicated compositions, only modest and beautiful omar stuff. atmospheric and pretty naive, but very powerful, to me. Also the themes and the overall vibe of the film remind me of the title "Cosmic Jesus Hearst" - or "Cosmic Jesus Hearts". The film, as I understood, is shot in February 2017, and that title has been announced even before. but thematicaly it is a merge of three different films Adam and Omer have been making since 2012, so maybe, as a wild guess, "Cosmic Jesus Hearts" is the soundtrack for the film, who knows. Or maybe not, just a guess. The film reminds me of that title very much, that's it. Honestly I even feel some vibe simularities to the lyrical world of escorpion/el bien.
overall, I think, Amalia is one of the strongest artistic statements by Omar. may be questionable cinematically, but in context of O's other works it is at least very interesting. I wasn't disappointed, and I was ready to be disappointed.
Also I think that "Orchestrator - Jonathan Debaun" is pure lol.
