Does anyone else completely adore Mr. Bungle? I've been a fan for awhile now, but lately they have been in my CD player non stop. Amazingness, too bad they couldn't squeeze another album, even tour out, it would be brilliant. Their musical dynamic is mind blowing, ahh monkeys I love them!

Ive only recently got into Mike Patton (thanks to Handsome Boy - White People I love his guest apperance on that album)

Ive got:
Faith No More - Fool For A Day...
DEP - Irony is a Dead Scene
Fantomas - Dirctors Cut
Mr Bungle - California (I think its that album its all white)

And I really enjoy that album its great as is Fool for a Day. I love his vocals. California has some great tracks but also a few im not a fan of, some are quite a difficult listen but rewarding aswell. So I guess I don't adore Mr Bungle but what Ive heard i Definately dig.

I'm really a fan of Patton though, whats the best Patton album vocal wise, I like his smooth tone more then his angry one.

Mike Patton is brilliant. I'd say the California album has the most direction, over all the other albums, the other stuff is a lot more chaotic, which I don't mind, but I must say there are many songs on the California album that are rad, but there are a few that I can take or leave, after listening to them a lot they tend to grow on you, thats basically how all Bungle stuff is. I personally think in order to get the full appreciate of Mr. Bungle you have to have a certain state of mind. As for the Patton softer vocals, I'm not sure what else I can recommend, I think some of his most soft vocaled stuff is on the California album. Also, if you are a fan of bjork and haven't heard her medulla album, check it out, he iis on that album, great combo bjork and patton, brilliance!

I still think Romances is my favorite thing Patton's ever been involved in.

But I still listen to Disco Volante every once in a while.

Disco Volante is my favorite album. Does anybody listen John Zorn? The Naked City box set is worth picking up. Learn where Patton got a couple of his tricks, John Zorn that's where. I think that Ipecac is one of the best indie labels around. What a line up Fantômas, MELVINS, Isis, Guapo, Dälek, Trevor Dunn's Trio Convulsant, kid606, Tomahawk now that's what I call music. Then there is Trey and Web of Mimicry with bands like Secret Chiefs 3, Sleepytime Gorilla Musem, Estradasphere and the Tuna Helpers. Great collection of musicians sad that had to part. Not really cuz now there is so many projects they are involved in. Bungle is one of my all time favorites. Holding it down in the number two seat right behind the melvins. Another Bungle release might kill me.

Because of what John Zorn did, it kind of lessens Patton's achievements in my eyes. It's kind of like he's just re-treading stuff that Zorn did a while ago.

there are some really cool parts and instrumental stuff in the Mr. Bungle i've heard, but mr.patton ruins a lot of it with his over the top goof off vocal parts, some of the lyrics are kind of dumb too. Same goes for just about everything patton does vocal work for.

I listened to them when I was a young chap. I was really into 'weird' music. Lately I've fallen to the opposite spectrum from weird, so Bungle doesnt fancy me as it used to.

I think their Self-titled album was their best, but still none of Mike Pattons projects will ever be as good as Angel Dust(FNM).I do like the new Fantomas CD though.
