Worst Omar's album for me.
A big incoherent mess.

I didn't change my mind...

So what would be the process to crowd fund a bootleg of this? wouldn't that technically be illegal given that none of us have the rights to the music? does anyone work at a record pressing plant? can you just make an order for any record you want as long as you have the $, audio, and art?? just curious

a Mantra bootleg needs to happen as well. it would get pretty ridiculous trying to bootleg every album that wasn't pressed, but this and Mantra definitely should be on that wax yall

i was looking at this a little while ago and found a plant in Melbourne that seemed to be okay with pressing bootlegs, but again not sure how you'd skirt around legality. i dont even think it would be that expensive splitting costs between 150 ppl, although i think we'd want to find 150 people so nobody could profit off of this lol

Assuming 150 people would actually fork over money to press this album of all things is a gigantic leap of faith.

I'd buy one, and don't even have a turntable.

thanks man, WIP but i had the idea and this is being talked about as a possibility so i figured why not quickly do it. production wise, one possibility would be getting short order white label discs and then short order jackets and manually combining them as opposed to selling 150-x on discogs. i feel like having a white label with a sharpie'd A and B would be charming for a bootleg whereas the jacket i feel is 100% necessary.

i also wanna nominate un corazon de nadie for a bootleg if anyone's interested, i'm sure those folks would be the same ones getting this and mantra.

If someone bootleged this, or any other Omar album for that matter, I would 100% buy them.

I have never listened to this album all the way through in one sitting.

That being said I'd still get down on a bootleg copy if that became a thing.

maybe it should be a 3 disc set? call it the timelife orl avant electro jazz noise collection. i feel like mantra/corazon/woman aren't going to get the escorpion/solo/usm/saber remake treatment (though it happened with ensayo and i couldn't have not have been surprised by that any more than i was) so im not worried about it getting a physical in my lifetime and the boot being irrelevant

No idea whether this has been said, but the electronic track under el paso, texas sounds a lot like the beginning of cut that city. Especially at the very start

This album scratches an itch for me that nothing else does. Makes me feel like I'm losing my mind. Can anybody recommend some free jazz albums with a similar sort of vibe?

The closest I've come is Cecil Taylor, who is incredible. But what I think this album has that others don't is the electronic flourishes, they add so much imo

this is brighter than woman but i think it'll check boxes

great album, one of my favorites this year - its led by john dwyer of the osees. he's put out a few other similar records called moon drenched, bent arcana, and endless garbage, they're too free for my taste though

id also say sun ra, soft machine, and nels cline might be worth looking into

thanks man, Witch Egg is definitely a great album. I didnt realise John did stuff outside of Thee Oh Sees. Dude is about as prolific as Omar.
Endless Garbage and Moon Drenched I also listened to and like them but agree they don't hit like Witch Egg

As an aside, is Ryan Sawyer who plays drums on Moon Drenched and Bent Arcana the same Ryan Sawyer that was in ATDI before Tony? I think it is but can't work it out. I love the frenetic drums on Acrobatic Tenement so it would kind of make sense he would end up on these

This is a fantastic album, but when I first "heard" Tokyo, Japan, I honestly thought Tourniquet Man > Tokyo, Japan > everything else Omar's every written that Spotify had messed up downloading it.
