My good friend, Mike (drummer for Baltimore's Lake Trout, & now drummer for UNKLE's live band) grew up with Jon Theodore in Baltimore. The two of them are legendary in the Balto scene for their skills. Mike always spoke highly of JT as a person. Jon's definitely the bigger person for not being dragged into a mud-slinging match while Cedric and Omar continue to slag him off publicly. Very excited for this release.

I only think Omar and Cedric seem to be mud-slinging because they constantly get asked the question.A lot of press:

I mean, nobody went to Jon and asked, hey, why did you leave the Mars Volta?
They all seem to be nice people about it...imo

I like the thanking of good hispanic authors. Eduardo Galeano, Roberto Bolaņo, and most of all because he is more of a contemporary, Junot Diaz. Check out his Pulitzer winning novel The Brief and Wondrous life of Oscar Wao. good shit, best young latin-american author ive read in a while.
i am going to check out that book, thanks for the heads up on that.

Yea no problem man, I dig the fact that he won the 2007 Pulitzer by writing a book which in part I think deals (in a small way, theres many themes in the book) with something that hasnt been dealt with lately, or at least in a fresh way. That is the conflict that being an immigrant can cause in the immigrant itself, specifically a bilingual and bicultural one (something that I can relate to). Add to the mix the fact that the main guy, Oscar Wao, is an obese, late twentysomethin if not thirty year old virgin who writes science fiction, a crazy family saga, and the Trujillo dictatorship thrown in for good measure and you got yourself a pretty decent read.
Now, personally I think when the book came out people dug it, and it eventually became a little overrated, like most things that get a lot of attention, but nevertheless I consider it outstanding in an american market where new authors of quality are hard to find (I´ve noticed they publish more young writers in south america, of course that doesnt mean writers do better over there).
all that said, I´m not surprised that Zach De la Rocha digs Diaz and the other two mentioned (Galeano and Bolaņo).

They're said (pretty recently) that they love him as a person, but their musical relationship was just not working out. That doesn't sound like mud slinging to me.
Also, I said on the first page that I realize it isn't a side project, but I'm not going to move it anyway.

Shy Child rule.how is this going to work
i mean
ive never heard a band
with just drums and keyboard
Also, check out the Benevento/Russo Duo ( http://www.myspace.c...entorussoduocom ).
Keys and drums, but sounds like full band. Drummer plays keys in one hand while drumming with the rest of his limbs sometimes (as well as triggering beats and noises via a pad). Keyboardist runs his organ, bass foot pedals, whirlitzer and modified, circuit-bent children's toys through a Mesa halfstack, Twin Reverb and a Baby Gorilla amp. Instrumental, but powerful. My band toured the states with these guys and our minds were blown every night.
Their side project, Bustle in Your Hedgerow with I THINK some Ween dudes, is pretty rad. Saw them after a show they all played in Asbury Park NJ last year.
Back on topic, yes there's no way this collaboration shouldn't melt faces.

Yup, there's 2 dudes from Ween in that. That show you speak of last year at Asbury. My band, Benzos, played right before them (the Duo went on before us, we played and then they returned as the Bustle incarnation, which covers Zep tunes). Some festival in front of the Bowling Alley right?Shy Child rule.how is this going to work
