Listen to L' Via L' Viaquez and then listen to Goodbye Sober Day by Mr Bungle.
Similarities? Well yeah, personally, I think it's awesome that they would use it, I'm sure a lot of people think they're rip offs, and I'm sure a lot of people will never even know who Mr Bungle is.

Mr. Bungle is quite an amazing band, pretty much anything Patton related is incredible. But I don't think TMV ripped them off.

That's really weird that you posted that, I was listening to Goodbye Sober Day today and noitced the similarities.

I don't think it's quite the same though.

same here, except i hadnt listened to mr bungle in about two years, and after hearing the new mars volta album, i figured id give all my bungle albums a whirl, and JEEEZZ... .SHITloads of similarities in the guitar/aux percussion/effects/keys. but the vocals have nothing in common, nor do the drums.

Bungle's my favorite band. Can't get bored of it. But I just listen to Fantomas and Secret Chiefs 3 to make up for the breakup.

Mr. Bungle are my favourite band of all time, nothing compares to them. I saw more of a similarity to the beat of that song with Mr. Bungle's 'Violenza Domestica' off Disco Volante. It's funny that this is brought up because a friend and i were just talking about it the other day!

Seriously, this is ridiculous. "Goodbye sober day" is a pretty cool song but there is minimal similarity between that and L'Via. So go ahead and admit that you've never heard a chilled out latin beat before. Or something.

Yes, for better or worse. I find their music quite humorous, which isn't a bad thing, but regardless it's not really what I want from music most of the time.

The only similarities I hear is the transitions between fast and slow.

This is true.
But it's also very true that their music is straight kitsch much of the time. That's the one thing that always kept Bungle from enduring in my mind. Disco Volante and California are solid albums, but sometimes it feels like they jump around genres more as a smirking joke than as an artistic statement.
