Wow. I didn't even know that Ataxia played any shows.  I looked and saw they only played two shows ever.  This is really cool!

Man...how awesome would it be if John actually does some solo gigs.  It seems he's had some change in his opinions on the music he wants to play and playing live, seeing that he rejoined RHCP.

Hopefully he forms a band a la atoms for peace and at least will do LA residencies

Always still wishing one day for John, Omar, and flea to play with a drummer - Know josh John and flea did that one show in 2009 with Stella mozgowa, woulda been cool with Omar as well. Also always thought Carla azar, who did drums on jack whites last solo tour would be a killer drummer for a group like that. A boy can dream.

Nah like, live in the same room? Those tracks might have been just overdubs. I think there was one of the 2004 performances where flea was on trumpet. Was josh also there?

Nope, that was the one with just Omar, Flea, John.

Josh has performed with Marcel though at some of the 2007 RHCP Gigs

I checked the lineups of the performance shows and it seems that Omar and Josh never played together

Only through January 31st, as I recall. I believe that was the end of the leg and the last Marcel traveled with them. He had Bedlam to attend to.

Woah... been watching AuraT09 design that EVAR logo for the past few days on Instagram and didn't realize it was a label she was starting with John. Cool!

[Edit] Now that I think of it, she's also been doing some video/laser art at John's house recently. Here's the post. Wondering if it's for something Evar/JF related.

Prolly an over simplification in a lot of ways - I’m sure money came into play in some way, but John also had to have loved the peppers to have stayed as long as he did, returning in 98 and then leaving again sometime after the 07 tour ended in late 2007.....that’s a long time to be “doing it for the money.” Those 3 records have a lot of different tones and textures and creativity to them so to oversimplify and say it was done for money, that’s a bit difficult. No way you tour that much too and are smiling and jamming on stage and are just “faking it” for the money - at least not John knowing what we know about the dude.

Whatever the dudes reasons I don’t care - every album he’s made with RHCP has been bloody excellent and no reason to think this won’t be the same case. Here’s to hoping all this shelter at home stuff has him and flea working and demoing like crazy with all the free time from not having to prep for those summer festival shows...

I remember John saying he seriously started considering leaving because Flea wanted a break and John despite not really liking touring (saying its just his job) wanted to continue and move on. In 98' a lot of stars aligned. They didnt really fire Dave for John. I wonder what would've happened if John asked to comeback a day after OHM release?

Such events are always multifaceted. To believe there was no financial motivation for John to rejoin in 1998 is asinine. Or to believe that his resignation post-2007 had nothing to do with him thinking he never had to work again for money. There can be a financial motivation this time around, too. Doesn't mean it is or has ever been his only motivation. Most people try to find a job that pays and is in some form fun, interesting or otherwise fullfilling to them. It's possible what John said to Rob Rule at the Soundgarden show was said in a playful manner, but still with an element of truth.

Rub Rule didn't know anything about Robert Hayes' death, even though John has extensively talked about it multiple times. He obviously doesn't know everything.

I believe his point about Anthony Kiedis though. It would explain the animosity between them in 1991, is consistent with AK's known character flaws and at the same time something they would have never discussed publicly.
